Hi there! I've finally compiled a list of some of the most frequently asked questions I get and answered them all for you here. Hopefully you'll be able to find what you're looking for, if not just send me over an email!

What do you do for a living? I'm a full time blogger.

How tall are you? I am 5'7".

Where do you live? I live in Lakewood, Ohio

When is your birthday? August 2nd.

What is your natural hair color? My natural hair color is a dirty blonde but I haven't seen that in a very long time. I spent around five years with black hair before I decided to get colorful with it. I've had some bright, unnatural color for about four years now. As of right now I feel most comfortable in blue and purple (which I refer to as my natural color) so I don't see myself heading back to blonde any time soon.

What hair dyes do you use? My favorite dyes, after trying many, are Manic Panic, Punky Colour and Special Effects. They all seem to produce long lasting beautiful color, plus they smell awesome. If you'd like to know what color I used in a specific photo than you're out of luck - 99% of the time I mix my dyes together so I have a unique color each time. By the time I've rinsed my hair I've normally forgotten my little recipe.

How is your hair so soft looking after bleaching it? My hair is so soft because I don't bleach it every time I change the color. I only bleach my hair when my roots need touched up and at that time I only bleach my roots not all of my hair. Since the dyes I use don't contain anything bad for my hair it's able to stay soft, shiny and healthy. Also - I go through way more conditioner than anyone else I know.

How do you get your hair color to last so long? Cold showers, avoiding lots of exposure to sun, and making sure to use shampoo as little as possible definitely help. If you'd like more tips you can find them in my three part series "Hair Tips and Tricks"

Can you help me out with my hair / give me some hair advice? I'm sorry, I don't feel comfortable giving hair advice. I am not a professional, all that I know is from personal experience and I know that it works for my hair. But everyone's hair is different and will react differently to bleach and dye.

How do you keep your cuticles so nice? I've found the key to making sure my cuticles look nice is making sure they're moisturized. I made a list of my nail essentials a little while back that includes a list of things I use.

What are your favorite nail polish brands? I would have to say my favorite brand of nail polish is Zoya but I also really like a lot of Sally Hansen and Revlon polishes. If you'd like to see a list of all my favorite polishes you can find it here.

How do you get your nails stickers to work so well? Patience and practice are two things definitely needed to get the most out of these nail stickers. You can also find some tips in this video, while it was made to be humorous it does contain my favorite tips to get the most out of nail stickers.

How many tattoos do you have? I have quite a few including two full sleeves, a chest piece, a large stomach piece, my knuckles (including both thumbs), a large thigh piece, the backs of my thighs, the front of my right shin, and a few other various small things here and there. I'm not done yet either.

Where do you get tattooed? The majority of my tattoos were done by Bryan Krause who owns Atom Bomb Tattoo in Willoughby, Ohio. Most recently I've been getting tattooed by Shawn Patton.

Can I see a close up photo of your tattoos? I'm sorry but I no longer share any close up photos of my tattoos. I know most people are just curious and would love to see more but my tattoos are very personal to me and I feel uncomfortable with the idea that someone might rip them off (hey, it's happened before!)

How much did your tattoos cost? I don't really feel comfortable answering this but if you're asking because you're looking into getting a tattoo your best bet would be to ask the artist you'll be having do that tattoo. Tattoos vary in price greatly depending on the size, amount of detail and of course, your artist.

How many piercings do you have? I currently wear jewelry in 8 piercings.

Where do you buy your body jewelry? I buy all my plugs from Omerica Organic, who I cannot recommend highly enough. (PS. You can get 20% off your first purchase with rep code "daintysq"). Other than that I don't really buy too much

May I use your photos on my blog? Absolutely, but please make sure to credit them.

May I link to you? Sure thing, if you'd like to snag a button to put in your side bar you can find a variety of sizes here.

Do you have any blogging tips for beginners? I think my two biggest tips are to blog about your interests, not what you think others want to read and to always remember that it's not about how many readers you have! (And also that blogging is not a get rich quick kind of thing!) Just have fun!

How do I build a readership? Building a readership takes lots of time and great content. Be patient, and work hard!

Where did the name The Dainty Squid come from? Squid is one of my cats and she is very dainty. ;)

How long have you been blogging? I've been blogging since May 2009

What kind of camera do you use? I recently made a post listing all my camera equipment, it can be found here.

What do you use to edit your photos? I use either Adobe Photoshop CS5 or Lightroom to edit my photos.

Where do you get your land camera film? You can find land camera film on amazon, black and white here and color here.

Are you on instagram? I sure am. You can find me as "thedaintysquid" If you're not on instagram but would still like to view my photos you can do so here.

What's your favorite toy camera? The split-cam! If you'd like to see some examples of photos from it see here, here, and here.

Where do you get your film developed? I get my 35mm film developed at Discount Drug Mart, which is our local drug store if you're not familiar with the store. They're the closest place to me that has one hour photo that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

How many cats do you have? I have two cats - Squid, and Professor Stingray.

How do you have so many indoor plants with all those kitties? My cats honestly aren't interested in my plants. They'll sniff them from time to time but they've never tried to eat any of them. *knock on wood* Guess I just got lucky!
How did you get your keyboard to look like that?!  My rainbow keyboard are actually decals which you can find right here. I've had them on two of my keyboards for over a year and have nothing but good things to say about them. If you'd like to see lots of pictures and a review of the decals you can find that post right here.

Where do you shop? Mostly thrift stores and estate sales. Some of my favorite places to shop for clothing other than those two are Target, and Modcloth.

Do you have any tips for estate sales? I sure do! You can find all my tips regarding estate sales right here. I cover how to find them and what to expect.

Where did you learn about mycology? I've learned about mycology with help from the internet, and books! If you're interested in identifying mushrooms while you're out exploring I recommend the app "Fungi"

What do you with all the mushrooms you pick? Most I bring home to dry (see here), others I pick in order to identify better and learn more about them. I like to be able to see everything about mushrooms, their gills, the full stipe, etc. I'm a hands on learner.

Can I mail you something? Absolutely, I love getting mail! My address is:

What are you favorite places in Cleveland? A little while back I did a little post for Modcloth's Travel Bug series where I talked about all my favorite places in Cleveland, you can find it right here. I also really love, and highly recommend the Natural History Museum. Updated to add that since moving to Cleveland, I've been visiting so many amazing places. I'll be sure to write a post about them all soon!

Hope that answers your questions!
xoxo
