When I was a lot younger my brother’s wife, who was his new-ish girlfriend at the time, and I bonded over the fact we hated the color pink. “Ewwww pink!” I was a tomboy through and through. I despised all things “girly”. It was so awesome for me to finally find someone else who was anti-pink. Sometime after this I saw her in a pink shirt and felt so betrayed (the same kind of betrayal I felt when my brother admitted he like country music after all the years of us making fun of it together. Haha!) Alas, here I am now in what has become one of my favorite colors. I’m mildly obsessed with this baby pink color and how it looks against my green hair. It’s just such a pretty combination… which is why when it came time to choose my first pair of glasses I chose a pink pair!
I guess this is growing up, you have a birthday and the same week learn your vision is basically garbage. Back in 2014 I got prescription reading glasses just to take some strain off my eyes since I’m always on the computer. I kind of thought I’d just be fine for a while after that but I was having trouble even seeing Netflix movie titles from my bed so it was time for another check up. Basically I had trouble reading all the letters, which isn’t as much embarrassing as it is frustrating. Why you no work, eyeballs!? My optometrist, who I looooove, showed me what I’d be able to see with glasses and I was blown away. I could not wait to get a pair.
I picked out from Bevy in milky mauve from Classic Specs. One week later aaaand my mind is seriously blown how much of a difference these bad boys make. I honestly had no idea my vision was that bad. I mean, it’s not a crazy strong prescription or anything but I can actually browse Netflix from bed now. I can read street signs better, and holy cow everything just *POPS*! It’s definitely taking some getting used to wearing them all the time but I’m very curious to see if this will help my headaches. I imagine it will because I apparently had been straining to see just about everything without even realizing it.
So, uh, consider this your reminder – if you haven’t been to the optometrist in a while, it might be time to make an appointment!
xoxo

Oh my, your pink glasses are so stinkin pretty!!! And I agree, the color really goes perfectly with your hair😊
Whats your current favorite on Netflix? We finished Stranger Things recently and it was sooooo good. Now Im looking for something else.
Thank you!! 🙂
The other day I watched St. Vincent with Bill Murray. It was pretty good, but honestly, I'm still on that Stranger Things high where everything else kind of seems boring. LOL. I just want more episodes!!
You look so gorgeous in your new glasses! Also, yup, the pink + green = awesome!
Thank ya! 🙂
pink didn't become a color i truly appreciated until i was in my thirties… pink in nature, cool, pink by choice… clothes, whatever – NEVER! but maybe in my old age i'm getting soft but pink is totally valid. i love the glasses, they're so subtle and fresh, very feminine without trying too hard, and the cardi looks great with that bold dress. this look is a total winner. i hope your birthday was amazing!
Thank you so much! <3
These glasses are so cute on you! I have a few pairs, but I don't really wear them very much since I wear contacts most of the time… still, every time I see a fun pair on someone, I get the itch to get more! They're such a fun accessory, but considering how little I wear them, I go back and forth on whether they're a worthwhile purchase, lol.
xoxo Sammi
Haha!
Hmmm, yes, the eye-test- oops, also need one of those- also finding things blurry!
WHAT a pretty outfit- the pink is fab against your hair as you say!!!
I was and still am a bit the same about pink. I DO wear it now but my inner-anti-pink-klaxon makes mee nervous when I do!
I was totally inspired by you on holiday- I have always searched for sea glass but this time I made some pretty collages with it and photographed it which was S therapeutic so thank you!
I ADORE your teeth pin. It is so funny! I have a cute little Tooth pin with a smiley-face but now I think I need a whole set of dentures!!
x
So happy to hear that! Isn't it just so relaxing to arrange it? I love finding it but I think I love organizing it even more.
Dude it's such an incredible difference when you finally get glasses. And I really wouldn't be surprised if your theory about your headaches proves true as well.
I've got my fingers crossed!!
I think a couple of years ago I may have commented on one of your blogs about your headaches, suggesting it could be related to your eyes. I didn't get glasses until I was in my 30s and I only found out I needed them because of headaches! So, I'm pretty sure you should have some relief. Congrats! Now you can stock up on lots of cute pairs of glasses. At this point I can't imagine *not* wearing them, I just feel like I look weird/naked without them. ;o)
I sure hope so! I can't believe how fuzzy everything is and that I didn't even notice until now.
I've been wearing some sort of vision correction device since the 5th grade. My vision has plateaued for the most part, but I loved the 'I can SEE' feeling of getting a new prescription. I'd be lying if I said that I don't go to the optometrist every year to get that feeling back, LOL!
Haha!
ha, kind of how i found out in college that i need glasses, i was late one day and had to sit in the back row and couldnt see the board so i thought everyone in the back must just not care to learn, but when i told me family later they convinced me i have to go to the doctor. Been wearing glasses for 14 years now. Check out Zennnioptical.com! cheap prescription glasses that are cute online.
Ohhh! Will do! I am loving all the options out there for cheap glasses!
I just got my first glasses too! It is indeed amazing what a difference they can make. Yours are lovely!
Hey, congrats on your new vision! 😛
That is such a lovely shade of pink! and your glasses are so cute! I found out I needed glasses when I went to go get my learners permit and I couldn't pass the eye exam so they sent me home. I thought I had perfect vision! I was so surprised to find out that it was possible to see individual leaves on trees, and I could watch TV without squinting. I also liked how the edges on all the skyscrapers just looked so, sharp!
Oh man! How awful!
Also, the leaves thing – hilarious because Jeff was telling me about one of his friends getting glasses and how they were surprised to see leaves on trees too! It's CRAZY how much better everything looks now.
This outfit is so dreamy! Right down to the pins and glasses. I remember when I first got my prescription glasses – it felt like being able to see for the first time. It was the strangest, but most awesome thing! My favourite thing was being able to see all the individual leaves on the trees instead of a humungous green blob, haha 😉
Thank you, thank you!! 🙂
Okay, so the leaves on trees thing is clearly a huge deal. See the comment above! LOL!
You're looking so incredibly cute in this outfit! <3 I laughed so much with your "ewww pink" story I was completely avoiding it until a couple of years ago I started feeling incredibly attracted to it, and now it's a love story. You look so so good in glasses, when I was a kiddo I was so eager to wear glasses that my mom bought me non-prescription ones because I was so disappointed when the doctor told me I didn't need them 😉
Thank you so much!
Same here. I was always that kid that wanted braces and glasses. Got braces in my early twenties, checked that off the list, and now I've got those glasses I always wanted. 😛
I have pink glasses as well and absolutely love them 🙂 Also – the dress + cardigan combo is just flawless 🙂
Thank you!!
Love this outfit! And yeah your headaches will probably be a thing of the past since you won't be unknowingly squinting at everything!
Thank you
There were more exclamation points that apparently didn't show up before I hit publish so lemme try that again…
Thank youuuu!! 🙂
