A sort of different version of my regular on the cutting room floor series today. Jeff and I just got back from a road trip late last night. While I still haven’t even begun to go through all my photos there were a few I knew that didn’t fit into any of the posts I’d end up writing about the trip. I naively thought that we’d get home earlier yesterday and that I wouldn’t be exhausted today so I didn’t queue anything else but sharing some photos from the trip seems like a solid plan, right? Right!
Old friends of Jeff who now live in Maine asked him to shoot their wedding which he gladly accepted because it was a perfect excuse for us to take a trip. So last Thursday night after Jeff got off work, we dropped Klaus off at my parents house and hit the road. In four days we covered just over two thousand miles, and nine states! I fell stupid in love with New England (and all their amazing, old cemeteries.) I have SO many photos to sort through and tons and tons of things I can’t wait to talk about with y’all.
Quick highlights;
▴ THE OCEAN. Duh.
▴ Stumbling upon old cemeteries.
▴ Surprising Kristina in Boston. Seriously, the look on her face was worth the mile walk in the heat!
▴ DONUTS MADE FROM POTATOES. Literally the best donuts of my life. If you go near Portland, Maine you have to visit The Holy Donut. A friend recommended them, told us there would be a line, and that we should just get a dozen. Jeff and I both agreed there was no way we’d be able to eat a dozen of them because they were just donuts, right? NO. We could have killed a dozen of them, no sweat. All donuts are not created equal.
▴ Visiting NYC for the very first time + being able to see the Statue of Liberty from our hotel room.
▴ Finally visiting a beach that’s been on my list for a very long time.
▴ Exploring my second abandoned hospital!
…And
probably a million other things I can’t think of right now. Jeff and I
have this rapid fire way of traveling. We like to hit lots of spots in
short periods of time. It’s funny because we end up doing so many
amazing things that for a brief moment you can forget the
amazing thing you just did. It’s fun, and a little stressful but totally suits us.
Well, I’m off to start catching up on everything including pet snuggles because my three babies sure missed me! I’ll share more about our trip oh so soon.
xoxo

Sounds like lots of fun! Can't wait to see more 🙂

It definitely was! 🙂
That top main picture, I just love that so much. Also, there's a place called Spudnuts in Berea and Mentor that makes donuts from potato flour. I haven't tried them yet, but my Dad swears by them.

These are made from mashed potatoes though! Seriously, they were AMAZING. The texture was so different from regular donuts.
The eighth picture looks incredibly similar to a house in my hometown. Too funny! 🙂
Such a beautiful place, huh?!
I'm not surprised you loved New England 🙂 I can't wait to see the rest of your blogs about it
Yeah, dude, it was purrrrrfect there. I'm dying to go back and see more.
Ah! You were in New York! I have a similar view of the Statue of Liberty from my bedroom window 🙂 I can't wait to read more about your trip!
We wanted to get a hold of you so bad but our NYC time just kept getting cut shorter and shorter. (I also didn't realize that your traffic there was PURE HELL!) We will definitely be back, and you and I are hanging out! 🙂
Yeah I don't recommend driving anywhere in or near the city 🙂 And you're always welcome to stay with me! Free Mozart cuddles with every night's stay.
I'd love to know more about where you went! This is where I'm from and I'm always looking for new stuff to seek out whenever i head home. It's so easy to get caught up in familiar haunts. Regardless, I'm so glad you enjoyed Maine and New England/NY in general! It's a gorgeous, enchanting place, and you caught it beautifully in your photos 🙂
Thanks! It truly is. I can't wait to come back ASAP!
You are such a jerk and by that I mean I love you guys and it was SO NICE TO MEET YOU! I'm still laughing over what a scene I made.
Your face was PERFECTION. There was a like a ten second window where I was like "shit, she has no idea who I am and I'm going to have to awkwardly say hi, i'm the dainty squid" then your face just dropped and I was like YESSSSSSS. SO happy I got to meet ya finally, even if it was only for second.
Love that peek a boo view of the Statue of Liberty.
We were in Maine 3 or 4 years ago and my husband still hopes to move there one day. It takes your breath away with it's beauty.
Yeah, Jeff and I have tossed around the idea of moving to Maine before. It's not something that's in the plans right now but I don't think I'd hesitate for a second if the opportunity arose tomorrow! Maine is lovely!
wow
The Holy Donut is the best! I live a couple hours from Portland, but I try to run errands there every once in a while so I can grab some potato donuts.
You should definitely come back to Maine soon and explore some more! I moved here about a year ago and there is just so much to see. There are so many old abandoned sea captains' mansions in my area, they're absolutely amazing.
Haha! I would totally do the same. Jeff and I were already scheming ways to get our hands on more of them ASAP.
The first photo of the house is beautiful! I would have loved to have seen it in it's former days! Also, those donuts look so good and I'm really craving some right now!

Sounds like an incredible trip! We also travel in a way that's similar: chaotic but super inspiring – 9 states in 4 days sounds crazy! In the best way 🙂
