Christmas Wishlist 2015

by Kaylah Stroup
Well, Christmas sure is sneaking up, isn’t it? I’m never really all that prepared for the holidays, at least not compared to my mom who has basically been shopping since August. But by now I usually have at least a little bit of my shopping done. Do you know how much I have done this year? None!!! If I think about it too much I’ll start to panic so I keep pretending I have more time than I really do. I would LOVE to be able to afford the gifts I really want to give people (e.g. camera equipment for Jeff.) Other than really big things that are kind of out of the question, I have no idea what to get anyone. I feel like I’m insanely easy to shop for, I wish everyone on my list was too!

1. Life size skeleton. It’s no secret I collect weird things. I’m pretty patient when it comes to building my collection. I’ve amassed most of it without spending much money at all because I just wait for the right time to pounce on an item. A full sized skeleton is the one thing I’m chomping at the bit to get though. I don’t need one that is super high quality, just better than Halloween quality.
2. Lapel pins! I just recently discovered Pity Party Studios who have one of a terrarium, and Saturn. And this cactus one from This Way To The Circus has been on my list for a while now. But I’m sure there are a million other pins out there that I have yet to discover that I would love as well.
3. I’ve slowly been getting back into the habit of reading which feel so awesome. Two books I’ve been wanting to read are Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty.
4. Always room for another striped dress in my closet.
5. Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L. This is actually going to be my present to myself (because buying yourself a present for Christmas is a thing? Well it is this year!) I’ve been saving my pennies, and basically counting down that days. I cannot wait to finally get it.
6. I’ve needed a new tripod for a while now. I own three or four of them but they’re all junk. This one by Dolica looks amazing. The three features that really draw me in are the ball head, quick release plate, and the fact that the legs lock in different positions.
7. These last few months, basically ever since I got that boar mount, I’ve been wanting to add more taxidermy to my collection. I’d really be happy to get anything but near the top of my taxidermy wishlist is a weasel. They’re just so cute!

8. I would feel a lot safer walking to the train if I had a bigger knife. I carry a small pocket knife but don’t really feel like it’d be much help. I hate that it’s even something I have to think about but better safe than sorry I guess? I love love love these rainbow ones. Cute but dangerous, I want that to be my vibe.
9. I’d really like a water filter pitcher so that I can stop drinking bottled water. I didn’t realize they came in fun colors!
10. I need a winter coat for play. I already have my nice winter coat but I need one that is super warm for exploring. Something that I can get dirty, and something that it wouldn’t be a huge deal if I accidentally tore it because that stuff happens. Obviously this $250 one from Patagonia isn’t the one but something this style would be perfect.
11. And of course, my Christmas wishlist isn’t complete without a pair of Palladium Boots! Loving this style – plus they’re waterproof!

Guess I should stop browsing for myself now and work on getting these names crossed off my list! What are you wishing for for Christmas this year?
xoxo

Gaaah!! I love those pins!! If I could make some suggestions, mace might be a better option (i get mine at law enforcement stores bc im married to a co, its a little cheaper, they also have noce knives), easier to weild… We just got a pitcher and its great but its not even half enough water, they make huge ones that I would suggest if you drink a lot of water. Granted, we fill our pups water bowl from it so maybe it would be enough without that. Just some thoughts!! Do you get your pup and kitties presents?

I actually have mace too. It's scary to think about and obviously I never want to use either but when it comes down to it having a knife makes me feel safer.

Hmm, I never really thought about a pitcher being too small. I don't drink a ton, I should definitely drink more and I was hoping that getting a pitcher would encourage me.

Of course! Do you?

It should also be noted that shopping for Klaus and the cats is NOT hard. Haha. They're not who I'm stressing about. 😛

Ahh, I just prefer mace because tou have to get pretty close to use a knife. Hahahah yup!! Our pup always gets a ton of presents, probably because of the pure joy on his face when he gets them!

that taxidermy weasel is ADORABLE! I have been trying to convince my husband that taxidermy should be part of our life (and home) but he's been resistant.

Hah! Good luck trying to convince him! 😛

I can't wait to read it!

I think I'm easy to shop for too, but whenever I do Secret Santa with my friends/family, I always end up disappointed LOL. But your Friday Favorites post inspired me to create my own version as a very public hint to my friends and family about what to get me hahaha.

Also, I definitely agree with the water filter! It saves a lot of money and the environment by not drinking water bottles. Getting a good sturdy reusable water bottle is also really good too. I find that I'm more motivated to drink more water, so it's a win-win-win!

Haha! I get that…and I guess I might totally be the same way – thinking I'm super easy but in reality I'm super complicated to shop for! 😛

Do you have a water bottle recommendation? I was planning to pick one up at TJ Maxx or Marshalls but got overwhelmed by all the choices! There are so many!!!

Try a Swell bottle! I hear they keep cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot for like, HOURS!

Kaylah December 17, 2015 - 7:39 pm

Awesome! Thank you for the recommendation! 🙂

I have that tripod! I absolutely love it!

Kaylah December 16, 2015 - 3:34 pm

Glad to hear that. It had some reviews that kind of made me nervous but other than those it sounds like exactly what I want.

Furiously Happy was so good! I'd give you my copy if it wasn't personalized by Jenny herself 😉

Kaylah December 17, 2015 - 7:40 pm

Haha! You lucky duck!

Exploring Woods December 17, 2015 - 1:33 am

I'll mail you my copy of Furiously Happy if you want! I was super excited about it, but it ended up not really being my style, and I couldn't get into it like I thought I would.

Kaylah December 17, 2015 - 7:41 pm

I would absolutely love that! 😀

Exploring Woods December 18, 2015 - 12:38 am

I've been wanting Caitlin's book as well! I watch her videos on YouTube, they're so fantastic. Wish I could have seen her during the book tour!!
