Living Room Tour

by Kaylah Stroup
I’ve been living in my “new” apartment for around three months now. I actually got settled in here fairly quickly but like I’ve mentioned before there are always little odds and ends I’m looking for or things I’m considering changing. That leads to me putting off posting room tours but I’m feeling like this room is in a pretty good place right now. Really ever since I bought the rug I’ve been dying to post pictures. In the words of The Dude, that rug really tied the room together. It’s absolutely what it was missing! It’s a pain in the butt to keep free of cat and dog hair but it just looks so darn good.

The bike rack is one of my other favorite things in the room. I was kind of stumped with what to put on that wall. The obvious choice was to put a tv there, I keep mine in my bedroom though. Then I realized I didn’t have anywhere to put my bike! I spent a while searching for an attractive and affordable bike rack type thing. It just wasn’t happening so I decided making one was the route to go. Jeff and I went to the hardware store with a tiny idea of what we were looking for but ended up coming home with the pieces for this. It actually ended up looking way more awesome than I had pictured. It’s great because it’s simple, it was cheap (under $20), gets my bike out of the way, and it looks awesome!

I don’t think I could have found an apartment more perfect for me right now. I’m sure someday I’ll outgrow it, or realize I have other needs in a space just like I did with my last place but for right now this is the best.  I love this place!
xoxo

You have the exact same record spinning during this living room tour as you did during your previous living room tour! 🙂 Is it your favorite?

Haha! I didn't even realize that. But yes, definitely one of my favorites.

I love the old black and white photos! Are they people you know? I have a collection of some neat photos but they're other people's family. I like to make up stories about who I think they might have been, haha!

Kaylah April 15, 2015 - 12:50 am

The ones on the wall that only has photos are all relatives but the ones on the main wall are photos of strangers my dad rescued from the trash.

That rug really does set the room off perfectly. I'm in love with how your sofa and walls kind of match and kind of clash at the same time, the two colours together are really pleasing to my eyes!

Kaylah April 15, 2015 - 12:56 am

Thanks! I was worried about how the two would look together but I really dig it too!

So jealous of your space and your bike rack. The blue color is so lovely. My bf and I keep our bikes in our bedroom because we have a teeny tiny apartment. I wish I had some space to hang the bikes!

Kaylah April 15, 2015 - 12:58 am

Yeah, that wall seriously could not have worked out more perfectly!

Ashley Vincent April 15, 2015 - 3:29 am

I recently went to an antique festival and there were TONS of old anatomy and botanical prints, I thought of you lol! Really cool space though, I really need one of those bike racks!

noisetteholly April 15, 2015 - 8:39 am

It is beautiful 🙂 I'm itching to move to somewhere where I can properly put my own stamp on things. At the moment I'm flat sharing and can't make every room my own of course. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration.

Betty Szwagierczak April 15, 2015 - 8:28 pm

Totally jelly, your living room look so cozy and nice. So many perf things, like blue walls.. oh and that cool bike rack! Awesome idea!
I'm in a middle of settling into a new house and it's so tiring, but hopefuly after we get done it'll feel like home again.

Laura April 16, 2015 - 8:29 am

Your lounge is awesome! Its like a super cool museum! We've got a kind of nature/botanical theme going on in our lounge and I'd love to get some real butterflies like yours, but my hubby isn't too keen on having 'dead things' on the wall. I was in an antique shop the other day and came across a company which was displaying the most beautiful specimen Butterflies in glass domes. I'm sure you would have loved them!

Hey Divs April 16, 2015 - 7:04 pm

Love the rug!! Where is it from? and the color of the walls are gorgeous !

Hey Divs

That IKEA rug was definitely made for you (your livingroom)! I would never want to leave this pretty space but if I had a bike like yours then I probably would haha. Decisions, decisions 🙂
