Back at the end of February when Jeff and I took our little roadtrip to escape the cold but didn’t at all we made a quick stop in Baltimore. Jeff has a friend who lives there so we planned to meet up with him for dinner. It was the last big stop before heading home, and to tell you the truth I wasn’t too pumped about it. We’d only have a few hours in the city, and after getting dinner it would be SO late to drive six hours home. It just seemed silly to me.
It didn’t take long before we stumbled upon graffiti alley, and I was instantly in love with the city. We were just driving around when we both saw it out of the corner of our eyes. We rushed to find a parking spot and wandered on over. It’s the only legal spot for graffiti in the city. Paint covers every wall, door, window, and pipe. Even the ground is covered although due to the snow we couldn’t really get a good look. It was so incredibly colorful.
After that we drove around a bit more, making quick stops here and there to jump out and take photos. It was too cold to do much walking around but we still both thoroughly enjoyed our short time in the city. It felt a lot like home.
Baltimore, I hope to see you again reeeeeal soon!

Amazing photos!!!
And funny to see, there is still so much snow in that places. Here in East Germany the sun finally starts shining!
I really love graffiti as an art form!
Too bad there was mainly naive tags on these walls ó_ò But yeah, it does look nicely colourful in there<3
It's nice that they give this much space for graffiti in Baltimore!
Oh my gosh I'm so excited to see that you stopped in my city.Graffiti Alley is amazing, and unfortunately they've been trying to take it away from us. We had a petition going for a while and I honestly don't ever know what happened with all that stuff. But that L shaped alley is a magical place, and I used to have a yarnbomb on one of the pipes you can see in the photo where Jeff is kneeling to take a photo. I'm glad you got around a little bit more, like on Falls Road and Charles Street. We have a lot of great street art and quirky things. You'll have to come back one day and I can take you to places like free book stores!!
Uncustomary Art.
Have you been to Dinosaur Land near Winchester, VA? I haven't been there yet so I can't give a personal recommendation, but it looks right up your alley dinosaurland.com is the site for it in case you get a chance to go
I always feel as if I know Baltimore only because I have read every novel written by Anne Tyler and they are all set in Baltimore. LOL Graffiti Alley is beautiful. I always see graffiti as art. Some of it is just stunning. Must have been fun to photograph some of this. 🙂
You're inspiring me to get out and take some photos close to where I live…. because seeing your photos, i am always thinking "there is nowhere cool here like that"…. but there actually probably is! Have a great week!
Wow! Best grafitti alley I have ever seen.
Stay Wonderful Always,

The last photo.
On the right.
The art.
I don't always know why and how art makes things happen down inside people. But consider it to have happened.
🙂
I'm glad you got to stop here, if only for a bit!
Funny, I've lived in Baltimore about six years now and just now visited graffiti alley for the first time about a week before you did. Such a neat hidden gem.
