spiders, frogs + mushrooms, oh my!

by Kaylah Stroup
Time for one of my favorite kinds of posts, one filled with nature photos! I’ve been hoarding away a nice little collection of them just for this occasion. These were all taken with my 60D + macro lens, which I certainly do not use often enough. Every few months I’ll think about selling it but as soon as I shoot with it I’m like “NOPE, NEVER!” I still think these filters are a great, super cheap alternative for a not so serious photographer who wants to get a bit closer but this lens blows me away every single time.

This is my absolute favorite time to get out and photograph nature. I feel like spring is typically regarded as the season full of life but fall brings out all my favorites things.

That spider skeeves me out! Hard to tell though with the macro lens how big he is. But still! Eek!

Kaylah October 15, 2014 - 12:36 am

He was pretty big. Big enough I wasn't really a fan of touching him.

These are just gorgeous! Have you thought about exhibiting your photography or selling it online, like on society6?

Kaylah October 15, 2014 - 12:37 am

Funny you should mention society6, just wait until tomorrow! 😉

Also, thank you! <3

Holy crap I am in love with those spider photos!!! I've been internally battling myself over spending the money and getting a Nikon 105mm lens….when I see photos like these, I get reeeeeally tempted to splurge and get it. I love your nature photos-very inspiring 🙂

Kaylah October 15, 2014 - 12:38 am

Thanks, Mindi!

Why not rent one? Always fun to play around with lenses that way instead of buying them if it's not something you'll use all the time.

I always forget about renting! I've never done it, but I will definitely try it soon! Thanks!

Awww yes I love your nature photos! Do you go out purposely looking for critters to take photos of? You must have an extremely observant eye.

That spider is straight out of a dream I had the other night. I've had three dreams about spiders in the last two weeks… apparently I've been spending too much time thinking about the future and this web of life I'm weaving.

These photos are AWESOME.
