I searched and searched but couldn’t really come up with much more info other than it was built in 1976 and was used as office spaces for a variety of companies. It seems it’s been abandoned for a few years now. I peeked in all the windows in doors that I could only to see empty rooms and fallen ceiling tiles. It’s rare that I find myself thinking “wow, what a shame to see this place rot”*, but this is one of the few that made me feel that way. If I won the lottery, this is the place I’d be purchasing to make into my home!
xoxo
* I feel like I should clarify myself on that one – it’s not that I don’t think abandoned buildings all have an air of sadness about them for one reason or another. For the most part I’m pretty matter of fact about stuff like this, abandonment happens, buildings are left to rot. But geeez, I really hate seeing amazing architecture in a state of disrepair. I guess “amazing architecture” is a matter of opinion on this one because it is totally tacky, but I’m all about it! Novelty architecture is my jam!

how cool is that?!?! I love peeking around abandoned places. This one really does look like a ufo!! haha!
I love that someone thought, "let's build a structure that looks like a cartoon UFO" and then they did it! Incredible!

I know!! That person is the best. I wonder if they made anything else like it, or any other wacky buildings.
perfect hause for you! I have no doubt about it!
Haha, right?!
Absolutely!
Geez that's a fascinating looking building, more fascinating because it is abandoned, it puts you in another world! I like it!

The bubble windows are the best part for me! I'd love to make little hammocks that swing across them and have beautiful window seats. It looks very much in need of some love and care, and a lot of paint, but I bet it would make an amazing adventure style home.
I know, bubble windows are the coolest!!
It looks so cool!I really love your posts on abandoned places,I find them really interesting!
Have a good day day!

Thanks, Jessie! I'm so glad you like them! 🙂
If you ever visit Chattanooga you will find a UFO house, which is being occupied but it the coolest. A staple house of the mountain it sits on. You will also find other really neat home architecture in the mountains.
Hey, even better that someone uses it! I bet they're really cool people.
amazing building, i'd love to see a game/animation studio in it. or it could be a perf house for you, how ace would that be :)??

The lonely situation, modern architecture and bubble windows remind me of something from "The Search for WondLa" (a pretty rad book). I get a feeling that techy people worked there, creatives/hippies wanted to, and even those who thought it was weird really truly liked it somehow. Lovely find! Thanks for sharing.
This is definitely awesome and would captivate me as well! I can just picture some top secret science experiments in there. Maybe that's why it was abandoned! Love those bubble windows, those are too cool! Wish you could've grabbed some shots through the widows to the inside but this is still one of my favorite abandoned building posts you've done yet! I looooove all things abandoned and urban exploration, even though I've never done much of it myself, so I'm loving this new direction your blog has taken. And happy anniversary!
Thanks, Shelley! I'm really glad you're enjoying TDS's new direction. 🙂
You might be able to check a local courthouse or something for record of the owner. Maybe get in contact with he/she to see if they are willing to sell? Would love to see you own this! Haha
I think you might have missed the "if I won the lottery part". 😉
This property, in disrepair or not, is worth over a million.
The architecture for this building is impressive. Too bad you can't get inside it, I can imagine it would be amazing inside.

Love the porthole windows! It would make a pretty cool hotel.
Oh man, it totally would! I LOVE themed hotels. How amazing would a UFO themed one be?! The people who worked there could all dress up like aliens!!!
….but it's so incredibly beautiful. It makes me sad but I'm also glad it's not surrounded by a huge concrete parking lot.
Actually, it kind of is, hence the tight crops on the building.
So cool! It's like something from "you live in what?" on HGTV!
It's sad when really unique buildings are abandoned like this. I love the details of the windows.
that place looks like it came out of a movie
Totally does!
Before I started reading, I saw the pictures and thought to myself, as Kaylah would definitely want to live. And then I read the text and had to laugh. This one would really suit you (although I know you only by your blog).
Hahaha! That's funny. I'm pretty predictable, I suppose. 🙂
That's very cool indeed! Would be a great home + studio for any artist I think!
I'm totally with you! This tacky/amazing building is definitely worth saving. And if anyone has the vision to make it even more awesome it's you! Hope your numbers come up. (:
Jeff bought us a lottery ticket since I said that. Keep your fingers crossed. 😛
This is such a cool building! I'm sad that it's abandoned too. Crossing my fingers that you win the lottery so you can buy it! 😀
There's a similar UFO type abandoned building in Homestead, Florida that was recently torn down. I ran into the same issue about not finding very much information about them (two identical homes in the middle of nowhere on the way to Everglades National Park.) I used to go here a lot in high school and take crappy pictures with my friends(:

Seriously! How amazing is that building? It is a real shame that it's been left to rot.
It's an awesome building! It would be an amazing home wouldn't it?!
