Later, green! - The Dainty Squid

Later, green!

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I spent a little too long in the blue/green territory, and needed a quick change. I bought the supplies one rainy day, and planned on bleaching and dyeing later in the week, after I had a chance to fade my current hair color a little bit. After being home a few hours I couldn't wait any longer, and decided to just go for it. Story of my life, basically. I've always been like that. When I was younger and my mom would take me shopping for clothes, I would have my new clothes on before we even got home. Anyway, it worked out pretty darn awesome for this dye job. The blue/green shade that didn't come out with bleach made for a nice multi-toned look in each of the four colors I used.

I used exclusively Punky Colour for this dye job; alpine green mixed with bright yellow, purple, flamingo pink, and lagoon blue. As always I mixed the dye half and half with conditioner before applying it.

I LOVE how this looks. It's basically the same colors I used for this dye job a few years back that is still one of my favorites. This hair cut, which has basically been my go-to hair cut for at least ten years, is perfect for accentuating the different layers of colors. Not sure how long I'll stick with this dye job, but I definitely feel inspired to try more difficult, multi-color dye jobs as opposed to my normal two color looks.
xoxo

    1. Thanks!!

I've always wanted really long hair, but my hair is so straight I hate when it gets even a little bit long. Guess I'm just a short hair gal.

  14. Wow! It's amazing! I have tight curly hair so just being in a room with bleach is enough to dry it out but I swear I've wanted pillar box red hair OR lavender (despite growing up in Ireland where little old ladies rocked purple hair!) since I was a child and for reasons unknown to my family wanted to be a model. Who only wore green. And short skirts and lots of make-up like Ms Fallon my teacher... it was the 80s!

Actually nothing has changed now that I think of it. Ms Fallon rocked.

    1. Haha! It's funny who we think is super cool when we're young. My first grade teacher had really weird bangs that she would curl half of them upward so they were really fluffy and the other half down. I tried on so many occasions to do that to my hair. I thought she was the best!

  17. I really liked the green on you, but who am I kidding... you've looked great with every color you've had! I've been finding myself missing color lately and have been thinking about giving the underneath of my hair a little boost. Still in thinking territory though... but I'm sure I'll act on it soon enough.

    1. Aw, thanks, Marine!! And yesss, go for it! I wish you weren't so far away or I'd offer to do it for you. I really want to try dyeing someone elses hair. I'm pretty darn good doing my own, so I think I'd be awesome at hair I can actually see without using the two mirror trick. :P

    2. Oh my goodness, that would be amazing! I really don't want to pay someone to bleach it for me at a salon but I also definitely don't trust myself to do it either. I'd love to be your test subject! Perhaps another meet up is in order? ;) I've never been to Cleveland!
