I said I wouldn't but...

Tuesday, July 08, 2014

Just going to go ahead and do something I said I'd never do - make a post about fireworks. I even said something to Jeff like "boy, the worst weekend ever on internet is coming up. Everyone posts pictures of fireworks, and it's booooring!" Every year I take pictures of the fireworks I see and those pictures never see the light of day. I just stash them away in a folder. Some thing about photos of fireworks just doesn't do it for me. It's extremely rare that I'm actually interested in looking at someones photos of them.

This year I got to watch fireworks three separate times. Once in Cleveland, another time for Lakewood's display which I actually was able to see from my bedroom window, and finally at my parents. Every year my parents have a big fourth of July party. Jeff and I went out to spend the weekend, and for the first time in my life I took photos of fireworks that I'm actually proud of. So, I don't blame you if you just scroll past but I like these photos way too much just to put them in the "July 2014" folder, never to be seen.
We also shot a bunch of other photos at night with sparklers and other fireworks. Jeff even got this super cute one of us with roman candles. Definitely want to do some more night photography with lights very soon.
xoxo

  3. I was *just* saying yesterday how there are two things I totally don't understand: watching fireworks on TV and pictures of fireworks. it's so totally boring. there's nothing like seeing fireworks in person!
but, with that said, these are some pretty awesome fireworks photos! kudos! :)

  13. I actually think your fireworks pictures are nice! No crowds of people in your shots, and the woodsey setting is a little nostalgic. Did you use a tripod?

I wasn't able to watch fireworks this year because I was sick on the 4th, so I am enjoying these pictures very much! Thanks Kaylah :)
