Last year I visited Lake View Cemetery for the first time ever. (See the photos here and here) I visited in September so I missed out on Lake View's flowers. They're known for their Daffodil hill, the annual blossoming has remained one of the cemeteries most popular attractions since the 1940's when the collection of 100,000 bulbs were first planted. Now that I live a whole lot closer I've been anxiously awaiting the perfect time to visit and see it for myself. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with the Daffodil hill, I took maybe two pictures of it. But I was absolutely in love with all the other flowers there.
The cemetery was teeming with life. Birds, squirrels, flowers and best of all, people! Never thought I'd type those words since I like my spots to be quiet and not so crowded but I absolutely love that Lake View is using these flowers as a way to bring people in. They had signs up at every entrance that said "follow the arrows for today's flower tour" along with little arrow signs taking you all around the cemetery. I know most people don't think of cemeteries as a nice place to talk a walk or spend an afternoon but they really are, especially when full of gorgeous flowers.
