I'd been sporting "just moved" nails for way too long. Packing boxes, moving boxes, then unpacking said boxes is hell on your nails. Things are finally starting to get into a routine around here which is good because as much as I like to pretend I'm spontaneous, I really enjoy routine. One of my favorite routines being evenings spent painting my nails.

Before moving I cleared out the majority of my polishes. I got rid of enough polishes to be able to store my entire collection on one shelf instead of two like I had filled. (Yeah, I realize it's still a lot of polish) So I'm obviously trying to buy less polish too so that I can keep it all on one shelf. But I had to break my new "no new polish" rule for Essie's Aruba Blue. It's suuuch a nice blue, I'm obsessed. I feel like a lot of the time I just "have to" buy a new polish I'm never actually all that impressed with it but this one really was a good buy. I definitely recommend it if you're in the market for a nice dark blue.

  1. So pretty, it's such a lovely deep, rich blue ^_^

  2. Hey Kaylah,
what a beautiful colour, and your nails look awesome! I was wondering though, what is your experience with Essie varnish? I've used it several times and made the experience that a) it took a really long time to dry and b) it chipped too fast for my taste. I would love to hear your insights, maybe I'm doing something wrong? What are your favourite nail varnish brands? Or does it depend on the colour (I find that the quality can change from colour to colour)?

  3. Love that shade, I have one similar :)

  6. I always fancy your nails.
    You have such talent!!

  7. I love anything dotty and these gorgeous nails are no exception. :) Also I just noticed your knuckle tattoos which are adorable!

  8. Lovely nails! I have the same problem when i clean out my nail polish collection and then I go out and buy more bottles! haha

  9. Love these nails! Man, you seem like such a cool person to hang out with.

  10. I've been looking at that one for awhile. I might have to head to the store soon to look at it again. :)

  11. ...and do I dare ask what you do with alllll of your old polishes when they are 'past their prime'?? Why do I ask? I am in the process of learning how to make metal jewelry - currently working on a series of cut-out flowers with seaglass centers (similar to the vintage enamel flower pins!!). The metal that I am using is recycled jar lids that I want to paint with vibrant enamels - and as I was reading your post ~ voila, a lightbulb went on!! Yes... I will probably just go to the Dollar Store and get some, but I thought this could be an extension of the recycling process!

    1. If they're "past their prime" I just add some nail polish thinner and they're perfect again.

If you're asking what I do with polishes I dont want anymore, I give them to my mom and my niece.

    2. I'm GLAD to hear that you pass them on 8-)
HATE to think of all of those luscious colors in a landfill or going to waste!
THANKS for your time in reply Kaylah!

  12. I can NEVER get my nails that neat! Mine always look like my one-year-old did them! Haha! SO cute. I love your style and creativity!

  13. So cute, I wish I was careful enough to do nails like these <3

  14. Ah! I'm wearing aruba blue right now, but with a base of essie's trophy wife, and a little bit of zoya charla and frida brushed on for good measure [it's a very lazy water color thing, all teal and deep blue]. Aruba Blue is one of my all-time favorites, with good reason! B)

  15. Your nail designs are seriously always so on point! I use the same tip sticker things you do, and I can never get it to look quite as perfect as you. So obviously I'm jealous of your skill. But this just looks so stinking cute, I think I'm going to try to recreate the look on myself this weekend!
