orange you glad? - The Dainty Squid

orange you glad?

Monday, January 13, 2014

I used a mix of Special Effects Hi-Octane Orange, Manic Panic Sunshine, Punky Colour Flame, and Manic Panic Electric Lava mixed with equal parts conditioner to get this b-e-a-utiful color. The red from my last dye job had faded a bit, but the biggest reason for change was my roots. It's like one day I woke up and magically had inch long roots. I applied the bleach to just my roots and then combed it through the rest of my hair after my roots were finished. While my roots lightened the rest of my hair decided to turn an even brighter shade of the red/orange than it was previously. I contemplated not even dyeing it but my roots were pure white which looked a little strange. Anyway, I'm smitten with how it turned out. It's such a fun color.

  5. You look gorgeous with the orange! Love that you are so skillful to do all those layers that give a beautiful feel. I am inspired with your hair changes that I wish so much to try a purple or pink (even if it's only some streaks at first :P)

  7. Lovely color! I wish I could dye my hair a bunch of colors but they tend to fade out by the 2nd wash and I´m too lazy to re-do it.
I usually stick with different shades of brunette and then just add some color highlights once in a while like red or pink...(one day I´d like to try blue!)
Btw, I absolutely adore your pup!! (and how he manages to appear in most of your photos hehe)

  15. I been following your blog for a while and I LOVE IT!!! love the orange hair color too. I have one question. I dyed my hair yesterday red (I have natural dark brown hair, almost black) and the color didn't take. only on some spots and you can hardly tell i dyed it. I dont know what to do :( my hair hasn't been colored for a while and mostly was virgin hair except maybe the tips. What do I do? Has anything like this happened to you? Do you think I can re-color? or should I wait? I have pretty thick hair if that matters for anything.

Thanks and I look forward to your advise :)

    1. Did you bleach it before you dyed it?

    2. I should also add, I don't give hair advice. It's impossible for me to give good advice when I don't know anything about your hair except for a few small facts. Everyone's hair behaves differently to different things. But anyway, yeah, if you didn't bleach it before hand that is definitely your problem.

    3. Thanks! I did not bleach it. Im scared because my hair is naturally dark, VERY dark. Anyhow I decided to wait until I try again. Again thanks for the reply. I really have been following your blog for quiet some time. I love your style, your pets and pretty much everything about you, It cheers me up :)

  33. Ahhh, I miss dying my hair exclusively with Special Effects. My favorite brand - especially for reds and oranges! It was just getting so pricy. I've never tried Punky colors - do you like them? The color mixture looks great, of course!

    1. Yeah, Special Effects prices are outrageous. I could justify buying all the colors I use at those prices. I LOVE Punky colors. They're easily my favorite brand.
