  3. I especially loved your favorite books post! Geek Love is also one of my favorite books. My big pipe dream is to someday make a movie or miniseries based on Geek Love when I graduate from film school. But as far as I'm aware, Tim Burton bought the film rights to the book back in the 90's and has just been sitting on them ever since. :(

    1. What? I had no idea Tim Burton bought the rights. Holy cow, I really hope he gets around to doing something with it.

    2. Typically when someone buys the rights to a book for film purposes the contract can expire and the rights can be put up for bid/purchase again. Typically the contracts are good for 15-30 years or so, depends on the particulars of the contract. So if his is a typical 30 year deal, they may very well expire soon (I think he purchased them shortly after he made Peewee but before Batman, so a while ago). Which also may be good because then someone with the follow through to do something with them will probably pick it up. Since the black comedy/horror/morbid/surreal movies and TV series have been doing so well recently, we do have the potential to see an actual Geek Love project soon and see it perform well with audiences, whether it is Burton at the helm or someone else. I've been paying way too much attention to this :P

  5. Cicadas are kinda freaky, aren't they? I was sitting at the outdoor tables of a coffee shop in the summer and one flew into my hair and got tangled in it. My friend was hysterical with laughter!
All the best in 2014, Kaylah :)

  9. The ladybug invasion was a lot of fun, and it was really cool to see that they were on the east and west side of Cleveland.
