Klaus. Where do I even begin with this boy? He can be a giant pain the butt some of the time but adopting him really was one of the best decisions ever. Evenings like this one cement that...
I wanted a dog because I wanted someone to take on adventures with me. Cat are super awesome, don't get me wrong, but I wanted a camping companion, a beach buddy, a canine co-pilot. Klaus and I have our days where we want nothing to do with each other, where's being a total jerk of a dog and my patience has worn thin but then we'll have a massive string of days where we're a dream team. He's my best buddy!

The day these photos were taken we made some of our best memories together so far. It was his first time by water that wasn't the beach. He's afraid of the water at the beach so I made the assumption he didn't like water. I was little bummed because I wanted a water dog, a dog who'd be super stoked to head down to the river for a swim with me in the summer. I assumed wrong because as soon as we got down to the water he jumped in. He had no qualms splashing around, chasing rocks as I'd throw them in and just generally making himself a big, stinky, dirty dog.  I've never seen him act like such a nut. It was so great.

Can't wait to go on a million more adventures with you, Klaus!
xoxo

  8. I can't believe how big he's getting - they grow up so fast!! My Snow is the same way - he's such a good boy, but he has his days where he's just so hard-headed that he doesn't want to listen at all. But I wouldn't trade him for the world! When I finally got my license and car a few months ago, I couldn't wait to go on adventures with him all the time - and we've gotten closer because of it.

  9. Ok so that's the first comment I'm letting on your blog, and I just want to say that I love it! It's so refreshing to see an interesting, diverse and genuine blog like yours!
I guess the fact that we have a lot in common only makes it even better!
Klaus is the cutest boy ever! I quite envy you, for being able to have a dog and be in the nature that often( living in Paris in a small flat I can't do any of that)!
Also I was wondering, it is stated in your FAQ that you don't eat meat (as a vegan I can only agree with that ;)) ) but I couldn't find a post on your diet, have you done it yet and am I blind or is it just that you haven't written about it yet? :)

  11. I can't believe how big he is getting! I wonder how big he will end up, my girl looked just like him when she was little but now she is lab size. I think dogs find rivers easier than the beach to start with. Both of mine love either now but for a while one of them was terrified of waves at the sea. She still barks and jumps around a bit before she will get her feet wet but when she gets up the guts she loves it xo

  13. That's why I want a dog too! Haha, there's something special about taking your companion with you wherever you go! Our family has a small rural cabin on an even smaller 'lake', and I cannot wait to see how much fun a puppy can have out there! Klaus is really starting to look like a grown up boy. :)

  15. Aww, I know what you mean about wanting someone to go on adventures with! I think when I'm in a position to get pets of my own cats will be the first on my list, but maybe a dog might be in my future too :)

  16. He's gotten so BIG! And I feel the same way about our dog. Cats are amazing -- we have 3 of them -- but you can't really take them anywhere. ;)

  17. precious! I have two Chihuahuas. Every night when we go to bed, the small one (named Tegan) has to lick my leg before he can go to sleep. That might sound weird, but he is SO sweet, I have to give in! He even tries to pull the legs of my pajamas up with his little paw. Dogs are THE best animals to have!

  23. He is so adorable! Ideally I wish cats were more portable (I'd take mine with me everywhere if I could!) but I think eventually I want to adopt a dog, too. Just seeing how much of an adventure buddy Klaus is to you makes me want one even more!

  24. all dogs have their moments of being complete assholes, but then are completely redeemed by some awesome deed the next day. I have a Chihuahua/Beagle/demon seed mix who seriously is the coolest.
