July in Review

Monday, August 05, 2013

I can't believe it's August already! July was such a great month, maybe one of the best so far this year. Lots of goals accomplished and lots of time well spent. Let's take a look back...

a few of my favorite posts from July:

new (to me) movies & TV shows I watched this month:
•  Orange Is the New Black. Okay, let's get this out of the way right now - if you have not watched this show yet, you are doing yourself a great disservice. This is easily one of the best shows I have ever watched. (I've already watched it twice through!) I've never seen a show with so many lovable characters. It'll take you through a whole range of emotions, I laughed, I cried, I yelled at my monitor. It's incredible. I'm practically frothing at the mouth for season 2.
Hit & Miss. Another great show. I highly recommend it as well!

songs on repeat:
Head On - Man Man
To save this section from just being a repeat of the one from last month I'll only share the one new song I've had on repeat. Man Man recently announced their new album and released the single, Head On. Obsessed doesn't begin to cover how I feel. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
PS. If you want to see what else I'm listening to, you can find me on last fm here

exciting happenings online and off:
•  I adopted a puppy!!
•  I moved my craft room into a new room. Things haven't progressed much since I posted about it but it's still very exciting nonetheless! I can't get over how great the lighting is in here.
• My brother, who lives in Germany, visited for almost the entire month. It was so great to see him again.
• I finished cleaning two new skulls for my collection. Skull aren't normally something I blog about (although I'd like to start soon...) but I just have to mention these ones. One is my largest to date, a pig, and the other is one of my best thus far, an opossum. seen below. The opossum fell apart into six pieces, not including the mandible, during processing so I'm very proud of how the finished skull looks.
• Another driving victory - I drove four hours alone (well, with precious cargo in the back) last weekend. Four hours there, and another four back with only a little over an hour stopped at the destination. That is now my longest drive. It's funny, before I got my license I said I know it's either going to be one way or another - I'm either going to love driving or I'm going to hate it. Well, I love it. I had so much fun driving, singing my heart out, and enjoying Pennsylvania's beautiful scenery.  I'll tell you more about the reason behind this drive later this week, it's very exciting!

I'm stoked about August! It's the month you try to squeeze in the last of the summer fun before the weather starts to cool off again. Plus it's my birthday month. Even if my birthday has already passed (yesterday) I'm still going to celebrate all month!
xoxo

  3. Wow, what a packed July! Sounds like fun! I hope you had fun in Pennsylvania. I moved here a little less than a year ago (Pittsburgh) and it really is a beautiful state. Similar to my home, Virginia, but so mountainous!

Also-- I'm sure you may have posted about this before I followed you, but do you clean your skulls using beetles? It's something I've always wanted to do! :>

  7. MOAR skulls please. I'd love if you could show how you treat them, or would that be too gross? Yours is so white and beautiful. I have one in my living room that is untreated, BUT it's been in skull form for years so it's not harboring anything iffy.

I'll stop rambling now. Again, more skull stuff please ;)

    xx A

  8. You should do a 'how to' on cleaning skulls. I have three sheep skulls I found and have no idea how to make them clean and pretty!
    Love Lucy xx
