baby bunnies! - The Dainty Squid

baby bunnies!

Monday, June 24, 2013

Some bunnies have recently hopped their way into my life and best of all the female was pregnant. So, needless to say, I've been spending my days melting over baby bunnies. They're so stinken' cute, I can barely handle it. I had no idea how quickly they'd grow up. They're finally starting to look more like bunnies instead of little hippos now. I can't wait for their eyes to open and for them to actually sit like rabbits instead of just acting like little wiggle worms. But let's not get carried away here, here they are in their first week of life...
 one day old
 two days old
 three days old
 four days old
 five days old
six days old
seven days old

And here's momma!
Hope you're having a fabulous day! I think baby bunnies can probably brighten anyone's day, right?
xoxo

Just thought I should add a disclaimer since it was brought up when I posted a peek of the babies on instagram - Momma Bunny does not mind one bit when the babies are handled. She won't stop feeding them and she won't be feeding on them. ;)

  21. Gasp, these pictures are amazing!! They did look like little hippos! A wild mama bunny had babies in my yard, and we were so afraid my dog got to them (she was sniffing around their den), but luckily, I peeked into a little mound that seemed to be moving, and there they were, so tiny and soft! I was afraid to do anything more than stroke a tiny head with my finger, though (lest the mama leave them). We think she moved them that night though, because they were all scooped out (without disturbing anything else) by the next morning, and the lettuce I left for the mama was gone! Anyway, I am super jealous you get to pick them up! Little darlings!

  28. Super cute! I wish I was able to see my bunny when he was that tiny. (I got him when he was about a month old.) I love how tiny they are!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Aren't they adorable! When I was younger, our rabbits accidentally got into the same cage (ok, the female broke into the male's cage, so I guess it was on purpose in her eyes) so we had two baby bunnies born. My uncle said they were both girls so we kept them with the momma. Then we suddenly had 5 more babies.... It was so cute, our black lab thought they were her puppies and went into mother mode.

  38. Oh, how cute they are! And all white. Adorable.
We had baby bunnies once as well, but already years ago. unfortunately our mother bunny was too young, so she didn't accept the babies, but kept digging over the cage's ground, kicking the babies from one end to the other. We rescued them and kept them apart from her. Every few hours we had to catch the mother, held her down and let the babies drink. It worked, but of course I would have loved to see her feeding them.
I am so happy to hear that your bunny-mum cares for them, can't wait to see how they grow older.

  45. They are simply adorable. Sadly my pet rabbit of 7 years passed away a few days ago, but we donated his hutch to a shelter and it is now home to 4 tiny baby rabbits which makes it seem a little bit less sad. These pictures have made me smile though. Love your blog xx

    1. Momma bunnies rejecting babies because a human has touched them is a MYTH.

  85. Omg! I've never seen anything cuter than these baby bunnies! I didn't know was a myth this story touches human and rejection by mother. I had Topolinos and puppies were so cute as baby bunnies (but slightly less), but i don't touch with the fear of rejection from the mother.
