what I wore : green with polka dots! - The Dainty Squid

what I wore : green with polka dots!

Thursday, May 16, 2013

details
hat - thrifted
sweater - Modcloth
dress - Modcloth
necklace - c/o Eclectic Eccentricity
brooch - handmade
tooth ring - Extollo Jewelry
chevron ring - c/o Eclectic Eccentricity
belt - came with another dress
tights - JC Penney
shoes - Wanted Shoes
camera bag - The Brooklyn c/o ONA

I bought this dress the same day it was listed on Modcloth, I had to! I don't have anything else in the same color, and I wouldn't mind if my whole closet was polka dots (and stripes!) It fits perfectly but oh my goodness, the lining in this dress is so loud. It's kind of like wearing a plastic bag. Luckily I got used to it quickly and it's not too bad in public as long as you're not somewhere quiet. I wouldn't want to wear it to somewhere where I would need to sneak around. Haha! Any how, I love matching my hair to my outfit so the dress gets some bonus points for that. I feel kind like a real life Saria (from Zelda. Hello?!) wearing a green dress with my green hair. I can totally get into that, she's one of my all time video game characters.

It looks like it's going to be another nice day outside, I think a bike ride is in order. Hope you have a lovely Thursday.xoxo

  2. That color looks so good on you, if I were you I would wear it all the time :)
Another thing, there are just some colors which make polka dots look so irresistable (who am i kidding, i can't resist them anyway), and this is one of those. And it matches your hair color perfectly...It makes me wanna turn green again, and I just bought monthly supply of orange :(
p.s. and all of those acessories are amazing, I'm litteraly drooling over that bag, but with amount of money on my account, it will wait for me for quite some time :(

  7. +5 for the Zelda reference. I'm working on a 'pop-culture inspired' outfit collection that I've established form my favorite tv, movies, and video games. So this outfit is right up my alley!

  15. Saria is the best. You should use an Ocarina as a photo prop while you've still got green hair (we all know it won't last forever!)

Loud fabric is the worst. My best friend and I used to work at a fabric store, and any time someone bought taffeta (which should never ever be seen (NOR HEARD) outside of a high school prom)we'd shoot each other a little look after the customer left that just screamed "oh my god what are they going to do with that plaid taffeta?!?! BURN IT!!!".
But then, we also had an elderly woman buy gold "liquid metal" and tell us she was going to make curtains out of it for her bedroom. I sincerely hope she was going blind, or you'd never get to sleep! So, so many bad decisions.

  21. That moth brooch - nicely done! I could do with more polkadots in my life. Too bad the lining of your dress is noisy. I have a skirt like that and it drives me nuts! I'm always very self-conscious about it.
