This is probably one of my favorite outfits in a long time which is funny because I'd been having a "I hate everything I own. I don't know how to put outfits together anymore. I'm just going to donate everything." moment for two days in a row prior. Guess I came out of that funk with a vengeance!
Lets talk about that hair for a second. My hair, as I've mentioned a few times before, does not hold a curl. Don't bother telling me about some new-fangled way to make curls because I've tried it and it didn't work for me. My hair hates curls, especially when it's even the tiniest bit moist outside. It takes fifteen or twenty minutes for me to shoot an outfit and in that time my hair can go completely flat. It's funny because with these photos you can go through and very easily figure out the order in which they were taken. There's one where my hair is super curly, then it's slightly less curly and then it just gave up trying and went back to it's natural state of being reeeal straight. It used to really make me mad that my hair does this but I'm learning to laugh at it. Guess I should just be stoked my hair withstands bleaching and dyeing on a regular basis! It's a pretty fair trade.
As you may have noticed, I've kind of gone ring crazy. I even googled "how many rings is it acceptable for a lady to wear at once?" Haha! Not that the answer would have mattered had it been the opposite of my opinion, I'm obsessed with them now. In the past I wasn't much of ring wearer, I mean I wore them here and there but I never considered them something I had to have and sometimes I couldn't even stand to have them on my fingers. But somehow in the last few weeks I've all of a sudden become super comfortable wearing rings all the time to the point where my hands feel naked without them. The stacking rings from Birka Scandinavian and my poison ring have become a real staple in what I wear.
Have a great Thursday!

I'm Kaylah. a cat lady, thrifting queen, collector of many, many things and
amateur mycologist.

I used to have that hair all through high school and most of college. Then one day, it started changing! It was so weird. But now it has natural curl. My older sisters lost curl with age & I gained it ;). I'm so happy!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree your outfit is PERFECT. I love the direction of striped on your dress :)
What?! You mean there's hope for me yet? Haha!!
DeleteSadly, both of my parents have pin straight hair so I doubt I will just randomly start having curly hair one day but I sure wouldn't mind!
This is such a cute outfit! I love long socks with dresses, but I'm never confident enough to pull it off. I end up looking like I'm in school uniform, but you look elegant and cool! LOVE the new pink hair by the way!

I'm in love with the colors of this outfit! Nautical stripes with a mustard yellow sweater? Amazing. But my hair does the same. When I was getting my Senior pictures done, we had to go straight from the hair dressers to the photo studio to get my pictures with the slightest bit of curl.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so adorable, I love the apple necklace!
ReplyDeleteMy hair is basically the exact opposite of yours, it's naturally curly, but whenever I decide to straighten it it barely lasts for 15 minutes (sometimes shorter if it's humid!) before it starts poofing again. Everyone always wants the opposite of whatever hair they have, haha :)

I LOVE this outfit, especially with your new pink hair! I am also obsessed with those shoes (and I just looked and saw they are by bait, which I love). I'm also much more into rings lately too! I used to hate the feeling of them on my hands, because they would feel so weird and heavy, but now I really love the way they look so I'm stocking up on rings, too. :)

I think the stacked rings are my favorite part of this look!

have you ever thought of having a loose perm? My friend got one and she now has lovely loose curls, and it'll last a few of months x
ReplyDeleteI've definitely considered it. I haven't talked to a hair dresser about it but I've spent a stupid amount of time googling perms. Hah! Maybe I should look into it more seriously.
DeleteGreat outfit! But yeeks, aren't your legs cold??
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this outfit! Especially the necklace and the splashes of color. Your hair's amazing!
ReplyDeleteNonsense, there's no such thing as too many rings! I love your cardigan, so bright!
ReplyDeleteI applaud you for being able to take pictures in the snow - I'm pretty much frightened by the cold, haha.
Lovely outfit, the necklace is amazing! :) XO

After I read what you said about the photo order and your curls, I definitely went back and looked. ^.^ I think your hair looks nice with a slight curl... (twist?) in it like the first 2 pictures. And every time you wear a charter school cardigan you remind me that it really is as awesome as I think it is :)

Your hair color completes this outfit perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThat apple necklace is just about the best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it neat? It opens up too, you can keep little treasures inside. :D
DeleteWhen I was young I had a super curly hair... then I lost. Then I gained in strenght in my teenagers years... And then I lost it again. My hair, changes alone by himself, without even asking for permission. I guess or you have to wait, or accept it. One way to help hair curl is to cut, if you have some slighty natural wave, and use a lotttt of mousse on your hair.
ReplyDeletePerfect outfit, you do know how to outfit, every time. THe necklace it's so adorable!

Ok are you ready for the best advice you will get today :) My hair is Marsha Brady straight and it will not hold a curl! Or so I thought. If you go to the 99 cent store and buy some of those cheap foam rollers, dampen your hair ever so lightly, I mean a mist, roll up your hair and sleep on it (that is the only bad part but they are not too uncomfortable) You will have beautiful curls for the entire day and even the following day. I live in Portland Oregon where even the people grow mold because it's so damp and these curls don't care. Try it I swear you will be thanking me later! BTW I love the new color.
ReplyDeleteI already told ya not to tell me about something because I've tried it... That's how I curl my hair now.
DeleteMan that sucks I will never complain about my hair not holding a curl again:)
DeleteMy hair does the same thing! Mine is simply too heavy to hold any sort of shape or style, which isn't something you can exactly fix :c
ReplyDeleteI love your dress. Anything with stripes always gets me. Sorry about your hair not curling. :( But at least you don't get an afro frizz ball in the summer. Mine always does that. lol :)
ReplyDeleteI was crying to my hairdresser the other day about my hair not holding a curl. She told me I have to try a bunch of different hair sprays and figure out which one works for me. I never did it because I don't like crunchy hair but maybe you'll find some magical spray one day.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous outfit! That necklace is divine, and I love the shoes as well.
ReplyDeleteI've got my fingers crossed for your curly hair appearing one day! My hair has definitely gotten curlier over the past 3-4 years. So maybe! It can be so frustrating - I know if my hair looks crap I don't feel comfortable with any outfit I put on!
ahhh how gorgeous! if you do donate your clothes i could send you my address! xx
ReplyDeleteCute!! I looove the yellow with your lovely pink hair - what an awesome combination! :) And I kind of have the opposite hair problem...lol - I have halfwavy/curly hair, but it's naturally very flat & fine (weird, yes) but I straighten it and then as soon as I go outside it gets curly..lol. agh! Let's switch hair, yeah?
ReplyDeleteIt must be annoying that your hair doesn't do what you want it to... but it is such a beautiful colour! I love wearing lots of rings too, they're so much fun. I love your outfit :) xx

Your new haircolor is awesome! So fresh. You're ready for spring. :)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is INCREDIBLE!!! I absolutely love the cardigan with your hair!!
ReplyDeleteOh I love these colours, and your styling with all your stripes is great! This is definitely one of my favourite outfits from you!
ReplyDeleteI really love your striped dress. I keep telling myself to find a striped dress asap, so I'll be looking over spring break! I love yours paired with the yellow cardigan and your super fun hair color.
ReplyDeletei ADORE your poison ring. before i even knew it was a ring with a secret compartment, i really liked it! i will have to keep an eye out for one.
ReplyDeletealso my hair is super thin and never held a curl, but now that i'm in my 20's and it's past my shoulders, it wants to be a little wavy at the ends. never at the root or the first 10 inches of hair, only the ends! since my hair doesn't hold heat curls, i just take what i can get and rock the messy waves.
I have super straight hair too. I don't really notice how long the curls last if I do try it. I've been feeling very uninspired by my wardrobe, but I know it's because I'm so ready for a new season.
