Isn't this dress so much fun? Obviously I'm a much bigger fan of cats than dogs but I love (and can't resist) clothing with fun patterns. Even more than that I like when a piece of clothing looks kind of normal from far away (like hounds tooth in this case) but when you get close you realize it's silly pattern - like a bunch of dachshunds! I want one of this dress in every animal imaginable, I think it would be really awesome with squirrels.

I have something silly to admit. I wanted to name this post "just dachs-ing" because I've always pronounced dachshunds "dash-hounds" so it would be like "just dashing". So clever right? On a whim while finishing up the post I decided to double check to make sure my little joke made sense. Well I'm really glad I did. Although I guess I kind of defeat the purpose by telling you all about it right now instead of trying to pretend I never thought that's how it was pronounced. The moral of the story is I stink at pronouncing things. (Which kind reminds me of how Elycia and I now say "gif" as "gif, jiff, G-I-F" since neither of us agree with the "correct" pronunciation of the acronym)

Hope you have a great Wednesday!
xoxo

  3. I pronounced it like that too and my vet-office-working roommate corrected me! Hahahah. I think dash-hound sounds way cuter :)

And you look lovely, as always!

    2. I always say it wrong, because I like the way it sounds. "Jif" just reminds me of peanut butter.

    3. It totally sounds stupid. I say g-i-f as well, even though it's wrong ;)

  15. Today I learned: Everyone I know has been saying Dachshund wrong. Maybe it's a regional thing?
I am seriously digging that coat, it's so cute!! I see on the website that it fits very narrowly, Would recommend going a size (or two?) up for 'round the hip closure??

  18. I want everything you're wearing. I'm a big dog fan, so that dress would be perfect for me. I love cats and other animals too, but we only have dogs at the moment.

  19. This is probably my favourite outfit of yours! Scallops, dogs, hearts and oxfords-- can't get much cuter. My parents have a dachshund and I refer to them as "dashies". I refuse to put on a sort-of-German accent for one word... it sounds much cuter the other way! (Reminds me of DAH-lia and DA-hlia) haha

  29. Cute outfit! but I'm getting cold just lookin' at you--how do you manage to stand in the snow with those mini shoes and a dress? When I went to Big Bear, I wore boots, snowboarding pants, a windbreaker and I was still complaining, lol! but super cute outfit as per usual!!!!

  30. I have a dachshund pup and I MUST get this dress - it is so cute! Also, if it makes you feel better, "dachshund" is a German breed and the German pronunciation is closer to yours ;)

  31. Eeek! I NEED that dress. Would it be overkill to wear it while walking my dachshund? And I love that coat. The scallops looks so cute next to the hearts on your tights.

Oh, and side note. In England we call dachshunds sausage dogs instead of weenie dogs. But whenever I call Milo a sausage dog over here I get laughed at. Haha.

  35. I have been wanting to do some winter outfit posts, but how do you do it in the cold? I can't leave the house in the winter without being bundled up in my giant coat, but you don't even look chilly! Nerves of steel, you have.

    1. Oh believe me, it's cold sometimes! I don't know, I'm not out there for that long normally just to take pictures so I suck it up and deal because I really love taking my outfit pictures outside instead of in my house or anywhere else.

  36. I used to think it was dash-hounds as well. I still remember the day (I think I was about 10 or thereabouts) I said it that way aloud in front of my brother and got the ridiculing of a lifetime. One of the most embarrassing things to ever happen to me.

P.S. Your hair looks absolutely amazing. I had pink and purple hair over the summer and I miss it so much.
