peeks from around the house : little collections

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Last week I shared some peeks around my house and I'm back to share some more today. It's fun to break up these posts into little themes instead of room by room. Eventually I'd like to show you each room in it's entirety but there isn't a room in this house I feel is "done" even after living here for three years. I've always got something I want to work on in each room or something I just need to find to finish decorating.

Today's theme is collections. I think it's pretty obvious by now I collect lots of things. I didn't realize how many little groupings of things I had throughout the house until I started looking for them...
Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!
xoxo

Also, what's the pale blue book with "Blog" in the title? I'm nosy and want to know if it's fiction or non-fiction..!

    1. Depends on what kind of film camera you're asking about. Favorite toy camera - the split cam! It's just too much fun! Instant film - land camera!

Good luck with film! It's so much fun.

  28. You have *space* on your bookshelf?? I'm envious. Mine are overspilling something chronic. I'm thinking of making a blog post soon about it. And showing off my collection of mortuary/funeral industry books.
Though you have now reminded me of how I still need to buy Dead Janitors Club :)

    1. It's only because I've got more than one bookshelf! I've got books everywhere throughout the house. The shelf in the photo above I've mostly cleared off to make room for everything I'll read this year. I like to keep what I've read recently together so I can remember them.

And yes, get on reading Dead Janitors Club! Soooo good! :D

    2. Ohh that's a good idea! The everything you'll read this year thing, that is :) I keep threatening to build more bookshelves, but you know how it is, life gets in the way and I end up with stacks of books all over the place ;D
Despite that, I can't help but add to the collection. Books are irresistable :)

  30. I love how you display your cameras. I need to figure out a cool way to do this, because right now they are sadly piled on top of each other on a shelf and look totally out of place!

  31. Gah!! Your home is a lovely retro masterpiece! You have so many fun things. I work at a vintage and new boutique and I really have such a liking for cute and kitschy retro things. I especially love those vintage paintings, and your expansive vintage camera collection. Really neat :)

  33. I love all of your collections, you have such a nicely decorated house. I can't wait to have my own so I can decorate like that. I particularly like your records, I love the Decemberists!

  36. Collections are super fun! I just recently bought a lot of bell jars (first for my upcoming wedding) so that I can have terrariums, store my nature collections, or just have a few flowers stored underneath it (like from Beauty and the Beast).

And I love the blue that's on your walls! It really makes everything pop! =D

  39. i love the clocks— judging by the different times on all of them i'd say they *aren't* all going off every hour on the hour?! haha. sidenote: i've been looking for belt storage like yours for awhile now! i feel like it wouldn't be too hard to diy one but i'd love to know where it's from if you have the info.

    1. Oh, no! I don't wind them. I love the way cuckoo clocks look but they're a bit too noisy for me.

The belt rack is totally diy, I don't even know if they make something like that. It's just a curtain rod with little s-hooks from the hardware store. So simple and cheap!
