Essie Mojito Madness
Milani Fresh Teal
Fresh Paint Spruce Street

This color combo was kind of an accident. I picked out the two green shades and paint those only to realize it looked a little too similar to this combo I did a little while back so I added another stripe on the top. Why I chose a blue I'm not sure (I'm not really a big fan of blue and green together) Luckily the green appears blackish instead of it's actual color so it looks pretty cool.

I'll end with a photo of Lloyd. It's not the best photo of him, but it accurately shows what he does daily.  I want to bring him in so bad. He's seriously the sweetest thing. Every morning he's waiting outside our sliding glass door waiting for breakfast and he'll usually sleep on the deck for a while before heading off to do whatever he does all day. Then he comes back in the evening for dinner and hangs out some more. On the day I took these picture he was being exceptionally lovey. The whole time I was taking pictures he was ramming into my legs with his cute little head. I just want to pick him up, spin him around and kiss him...but I'll just settle for scratching his belly.
Well, I hope you're having a fabulous weekend.

 the details
tie - c/o Flapper Girl
camera bag - Jo Totes
belt - from another dress
socks - Target
boots - c/o Romwe

This is my favorite time of the year. Obviously getting to wear all my favorite clothes, knee high socks and boots is awesome but I enjoy that all my favorite places are deserted! The beach was covered in drift wood and the trash was starting to accumulate. While that probably sounds unpleasant to most, it's my favorite. (Okay, obviously I'd prefer if people didn't litter and it didn't wash up on shore, but that's not going to happen and I do enjoy collecting it for photos so ya just gotta make the best of it!) Visiting the beach and the park this time of the year feels like home. That's probably a weird way to describe something that definitely isn't home but it's just like being at the beach and park remind me of when we first moved into our house and I just get this really great feeling when we're there like nowhere else in the world could be better.

On to less sentimental and strange subjects - this dress! I've been squirreling it away all summer. Kevin bought it for me from Antiques on The Square towards the beginning of summer but it's been too warm to wear it. It's surprisingly super thick. I'm looking forward to wearing it all fall with tights and a sweater. If you're anywhere in the area you should take a trip to Antiques on The Square in Chardon, OH! They really don't have much clothing, just one vendor upstairs has a rack full but they're packed with other goodies. I could spend hours and hours there. We try to make a trip every few months to browse. Best thing is the prices are pretty decent. This dress was $10 which I'd say, for a dress with no holes, stains or boo-booos, is great for antique store especially considering the fact I've been having a hard time finding prices lower than that for dresses in poor condition at the thrift store.
Hope you're having an excellent Thursday!

Shedd Aquarium - Part One

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

While we were in Chicago we visited Shedd Aquarium. It is easily the best aquarium I have ever been to! Previously the title of "Kaylah's favorite aquarium" was held by the Seattle Aquarium, which blew all the others I had been to out of the water (Cleveland has the worst one ever, such a disappointment!) But Shedd Aquarium rose above all my expectations. It was huge, they had an awesome variety and this isn't normally a determining factor, but holy cow, their cafeteria was pretty sweet! We were able to get a window seat and look out at the lake while we ate, it was wonderful. We could have easily spent all day in there!
Those were some of my favorite critters. How adorable is that turtle eating grapes?! And the stingray smiling? I could just melt!

I actually have a second post about the aquarium coming soon. Literally half of the photos I took in Chicago were from the aquarium's main exhibit, jellyfish! I had so many photos that I loved of the jellyfish I couldn't fit them into this post so I'll be sharing those soon!

Camping with the family - on film

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

The weekend before last my parents, my brother and his family, and Kevin and I stayed in a cabin somewhere in Pennsylvania for the weekend. It was WONDERFUL. The cabin was perfect! There was a main cabin with a kitchen, living room and bedroom, as well a bunk house with three sets of bunk beds. The place had a nice little pavilion and the owner was even so nice as to provide all sorts of game equipment (balls, rackets, etc!) and even three canoes. Did I mention it was right on the Allegheny River? Because it was and that may have just been my favorite part. Getting the picture? The place was amazing. Looking back I probably didn't take enough pictures but here are a few...
Watching the fog rise from the river in the mornings was one of my favorite parts. I'd give just about anything to live there. It was a perfect little piece of paradise. I had so much fun canoeing, exploring the area with my dad and Kevin and playing games with everyone. I think it might have been the first time we've all played volleyball together too, it certainly needs to become a regular occurrence.

what I wore : kitty shoes and a pig bag!

the details
dress - c/o Romwe
necklace - Tooth necklace c/o Oasap
bag - Pig bag c/o Osasp
belt - estate sale
socks - Target
shoes - gift from Pony Chops
(Ps. You can see lots of close up pictures of my shoes in this post.)

SO much to say about this outfit! I could comment on every piece and tell you how much I love them. But just so I don't sound really ramble-y I'll just mention two things. One -this dress is so great. It's definitely the softest dress I own, which is weird because all my other lace dresses are really stiff and kind of itchy. I could easily wear this one to sleep and be more than comfortable. Plus how perfect is the color?!

Two - uh, tooth necklace! Hello! I'm always excited to add another tooth item to my collection of teethy jewelry. (I now have two teeth necklaces, three rings and at least five brooches) I wore this outfit to an orthodontist appointment where I was definitely thinking my orthodontist would think it was pretty nifty. If not, I at least thought he would appreciate the silly gesture of wearing a tooth necklace to go get the wires changed on my braces. Nope, I was wrong. One of the ladies who worked there pointed it out to him, his response was "Ohhhh, was that on purpose?" I awkwardly responded "Uhm, yes, kind of" to which he decided to tell a story about how gross teeth were. I really cannot be the only person that thinks it's weird my orthodontist things teeth are icky. I think I'll be passing on telling him about my little obsession with teeth and my ever growing collection of toothy items which definitely isn't limited to jewelry.
Beside the kind of awkward trip to my orthodontist, we had such a great time at the park the day we took these photos. We spend oodles of time touching touch me nots. (I really have never seen ones as large as the ones at this park, it's so much fun!!). We also had quite the bout of excitement - an owl flew out in front of and landed on a limb literally fifteen feet away. Then the cutie pie just sits there and stares at us. It was so amazing. I just stood completely still, stunned this massive, beautiful owl was sitting right there. I didn't even get to take a picture! Regardless, it was still one of the most amazing things ever, I've never been so close to an owl out in the wild. Just thinking about that owl again gets me all giddy.

Hope you're having a fabulous day! Today I'm going to finish decorating for Halloween, I'm pretty excited. I started a few days ago but really didn't even make a dent.

Supplies used...
Revlon Bare Bones
OPI A Taupe The Space Needle
American Apparel Lopez Canyon
Seche Vite as a top coat
Nail stickers (blogged about here // bought from here

It's feeling pretty fall like around here! Perhaps these nails don't show it as much as they could of but the colors are fall inspired. I like that they go with all the different colors I've been wearing a lot of lately and they look really nice with all the pretty mushrooms and leaves I've been photographing oodles of.

This wavy sticker design is one that I normally don't use as often but I decided to give it another shot when I did these and I couldn't be happier. I feel like the curves look great on my short nails. If you haven't noticed already I love growing my nails long, and then cutting them short. I like variety! Right now I'm really loving my nails short but as soon as they start to grow again I'm going to be like "Oh my gosh, I love my nails long! Never cutting them again!!" Haha, it happens every time.

American Apparel nail polish kind of blew me away! I'm loving this stuff. Perfect shade of rorange (red/orange) aside, I love the consistency. It applies so nicely and dries quite quickly. I also bought Hassid, which is black and despite the fact I'm not 15 anymore and don't paint my nails black every day I kind of want to! I actually wore plain black nails for a few days after I got it because it's just such a nice, shiny, beautiful black. I can't wait to get my hands on some more AA polishes.
Hope you're having a great day!

Chicago snapshots...

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Like I mentioned a thousand other times two weekends ago Elycia, Ivan, Kevin and I took a trip to Chicago for Renegade Craft Fair. We had a BLAST. The trip was over way too fast. We both have more than a few posts coming up about the weekend (even a really awesome video!) but first I'm gonna start with just some random photos of Chicago.

After we left Renegade (where I managed to take a grand total of ZERO pictures!) we headed to Navy Pier where we did touristy things like take lots of photos, oooh and ahhh over just about everything, and spend lots of money on photobooth pictures and souvenir pennies. We even went in the fun house - it was amazing. Seriously, probably one of my favorite parts of the whole trip! I now want to visit every fun house ever.
Before I visited Chicago, Seattle was my favorite city but I've got a new love! As long as you avoid the museum campus on opening season game day for the Bears, Chicago seems like a pretty awesome place. We ate amazing food (Native Foods Cafe, oh my gosh, delicious!!), enjoyed exploring this new to us city and totally loved the fact that for some reason the highway from the city to our hotel always smelled like fresh from the oven chocolate chip cookies. There's a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. on the pier which despite the fact I don't eat seafood still made me squeal with joy (huuuuge Forrest Gump fan over here!!)I maybe even kind of regret not buying a souvenir from there. I've got my fingers crossed we can make out next year for Renegade too! There is so much more of this city I want to see.
