spiders, snakes and bees - oh my!

Saturday, May 26, 2012

Each year I try to take oodles of pictures of nature and all the little things that spring and summer bring. One reason being - I really like to (clearly!) and the second - looking through these pictures in the dead of winter is THE best anti-depressant.
Have a fabulous Saturday!
ps. Did you spot the spider in two of these photos?

the details
dress - c/o Modcloth
sweater clips - handmade
belt - thrifted
socks - c/o Romwe
shoes-  Myrtle c/o Wanted Shoes

If I had to pick an outfit to wear for the rest of my life it would be this one (Okay, this will probably change in no time but you catch my drift!) I love everything about every piece. The dress is the best length. I don't know why it's so hard to find dresses that don't show my butt when I bend over but when I finally do find one that is a modest length yet still cutesy it basically becomes my favorite thing ever. Plus the color and print on this one are just gorgeous. I love an outfit that when you put it on makes you feel like a million bucks.

Hope you're having a great day! I'll be back a little bit later to show you how I whipped up these sweater clips in a jiffy.

Split-Cam - Part 2 - On Land

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Here's part two of my split-cam photos! (You can find part one here) I really love these ones.
In the last one, in case you couldn't tell, Kevin and I were trying to make it look like we had our arms around each other but I guess we messed up lining up the pictures! There's something about it that I really like though.

I can't choose a favorite from the bunch! They're all pretty hilarious to me. I'd really like to get this camera and out and play while Ivan and Elycia are over one weekend, I bet we could take some really hilarious pictures, but that time always flies by so fast when we're together.

Now, I'll get to work on my split-cam tips post! I'm pretty excited to share my wisdom. Ha!
ps. in case you're curious my hoodie is from Mungo Crafts.

weekly nail

Sunday, May 20, 2012

This was supposed to go up last week but for Mother's Day Kevin and I headed over to my parents really early have breakfast and I ended up not having time to finish up the post and didn't want to just throw it in the middle of the week because I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE NAILS. After I did the first nail I was like "POOP! That was a bad color choice" but I decided to go on because I didn't feel like taking off the base coat. After I finished and put on a top coat I realized that they were probably the snazziest things ever. I actually kept them like this for at least a week which is definitely a record in my book.
Supplies used...
Wet n Wild - On a Trip
Essie - Lilacism
Funky Fingers
Seche Vite as a top coat.
Nail stickers (blogged about here // bought from here)

Still diggin' those nail stickers! This is one of my favorite shapes. It's simple without being too simple, if that makes sense. I also really like that it's a great width for my nail, it's just about a third of them. I bought some skinnier ones before buying these and I found them really hard to paint neatly. With these I can be kind of sloppy.

If you're not real quick on the nail stuff, I first painted the lightest color. After it dried I then applied the sticker and quickly painted the top half of my nail one color and the bottom half the other color and then removed the sticker before moving onto the next nail. Super easy!

an evening at the playground!

Sunday, May 13, 2012

I can completely cross off one of my May goals - go to the playground with all six kids! On Wednesday my brothers, their families, my parents (and the puppy!) my grandpa, Kevin and I ordered some pizza and had dinner at the playground. It was a lot of fun and the weather was just perfect! There were a few mishaps, albeit really funny ones like my niece flying out of this weird flower shaped spinning thing because Kevin happened to spin her a liiiittle too fast. (Don't worry, I didn't laugh until I saw she was okay and now it's really funny because in my mind I've exaggerated it!)

I, as always, loaded up my camera bag with about two cameras too many. I never know what I'm going to feel like shooting with until I'm taking pictures. On Wednesday I didn't touch anything else other than my instax 210. It's usually ignored because I swear, it is the most fickle camera. The pictures are usually mediocre but I was actually surprised how much I liked some of these.
my brother, the unabomber.

I'm really glad we were all able to get together and spend this evening at the playground. May is flying by! I'm not even sure when the next time we'll be able to get together as a family will be, other than at my brother's going away party. I really wish we could do this monthly.

pawsitively melting

Saturday, May 12, 2012

Two weeks ago my parents, Kevin and I were out driving around looking for somewhere to take a hike (We get together once or twice a week to hang out, it's the best!) when we drove by a sign that said "Great Dane Puppies for sale" We're a family of Great Dane lovers and back in February the family dog, also a Great Dane, passed away so they've been on a hunt for a new friend. We stopped in and visited with all the puppies. It was heaven. There were so many of them and they were so sweet and friendly. We got the people's phone number, and my mom told them we'd call them if we were interested. Almost immediately after getting the car my dad admitted he really wanted to get one, but wanted to call and make an offer instead of doing it right on the spot. Long story short - we called, they accepted, we drove back and picked up my dad's choice, a little black and white male.
My mom named him Crum, which was my grandpa's nickname when he was young. He's basically the cutest thing ever. I'm excited to watch this little pup turn into an oversized dog who still thinks he's a lap dog. Right now this little guy is into playing hard and then cuddling even harder. I hope he never grows out of wanting to be held, I love snuggling with big dogs.

I love that my parents have a puppy because it's like when someone has a baby (or even young kids) and you have SO much fun playing with them all day but you're really glad when you can go home without them and not have to worry about cleaning pee off the carpet!  Haha!

Hope you're having a fabulous Saturday!
