a visit from a tiny pal...

Saturday, October 13, 2012

If you've been reading for a little while you're probably well aware I come from a family of animal lovers, it's no secret. A little while back my dad found this cutie pie in the wood pile and of course, I was invited over (uh, that sounds strange because I don't need invited to go to my parents house!) to take pictures. I've never seen a chipmunk up close let alone held one! Let me tell you - they are incredibly soft.
Isn't he a cutie pie?! I love those little toes. They were pretty soft as well!

We, being the chipmunk and I, also shot another little round of photos in the house but I'm saving those for another day. I don't want to overload you with too much cuteness in one day! ;)

Hope you're having a fabulous Saturday!
xoxo

No chipmunks were harmed in the making of these photos, obviously, and after we spent a little while taking pictures he was released right where he was found.

  1. Is it a baby chipmunk or are they that small? We don't even have them over here so this is exotic!

    1. It's just a baby. That's not to say they get that much bigger but this guy is definitely small.

  2. aaaawwww so cute!!!

I just went hiking in the Highlands and we saw the most amazing animals: lots of red squirrels (they're all grey in my area), Highland cows (the ones with long horns and hair!), a pheasant and even a deer :)

  4. So adorable! I used to feed. Chipmunks and squirrels peanuts held between my toes, or placed on the toes of my shoes, when I was a kid. It was totally my favorite thing to do when I went to visit my grandmother. That's as close as I've ever gotten to any wee wild critters, but it always seemed so exciting that they would get THAT close, if the reward for doing so was big enough! Fun memories. I should totally get a bag of peanuts and try that again!

  6. Oh my god this is so freaking cute! I can't believe it :) Me and my grandma once found tiny little hedgehogs with the mother dead next to them. We tried to feed them but they were too little and didn't survive, it was really sad. They looked a little like toys, so little and unreal and pink!

  51. Aw so cute. I used to have a squirrel. We named him Twiggy. We only kept him because a hurricane knocked the nest to the ground and once we moved to nest the mom left and didn't want anything to do with it because she could smell our scent on it. So we felt bad and none of the shelters in the area wanted the little guy. Even though we did so much research on caring for and raising squirrels he died after three months. I cried like a baby when that happened but my mom's friend who was a vet said that he probably had something wrong with him which was why the mom abandoned him.

I'm hoping that didn't happen with your little friend!
