what I wore: tan and polka dots

details
hat - thrifted
shirt - thrifted
brooch - gift from Friendly Gesture
ring - Gabriel Brothers
skirt - Forever 21
shoes - c/o Lotta from Stockholm

This is another one of my favorite outfits. I'm still obsessed with these polka dotted skirts, even if they did lead me to have a Marilyn Monroe moment in Chicago last weekend. I have the skirt in three colors and I wear them constantly. I'm also quite obsessed with this shirt. I have a lot of trouble thrifting tops. Skirts? No problem! Dresses? I love sorting through them. Shoes? Easy! But shirts are hard! I find that so many are short and wide which doesn't work for my body or style. I so rarely find anything that fits the way I'd like that I'm not really the biggest fan of spending tons of time searching for them. I had a lucky day a few weekends back and hit the vintage shirt jackpot! Three things normally doesn't constitute the work "jackpot" but when in conjunction with thrifting shirts for me it definitely does. This was one of them. It's plain so it will go with a lot of things and the fit is spot on. As with almost everything I love and pick up vintage - I wish it wasn't vintage just so I could have the option to buy more of them.

Hope you have an excellent Thursday. I've got lots of baking to do today, cookies and a birthday cake for my nieces and nephew. Plus my niece asked for colorful cupcakes to take to school for her birthday - how could I say no?!
xoxo

  2. This outfit looks so adorable on you! I have the same problem with finding shirts. They are usually too short and too wide and it doesn't look good on my body. But this one looks really nice on you, especially with that cute butterfly brooch.

And have you cut your bangs? Looks cute!

  4. Love this outfit Kaylah! The polka dot skirt is amazing and I love the detail you've added with the butterfly brooch. Can I ask how comfy the clogs are? I've been debating buying a pair because my feet are super wide and I usually have to try shoes on before buying them but I absolutely love those clogs.

  5. aww you look amazing, Kaylah! First of all, let me just say your hair has THE perfect tone right now, I love how amazing that blue looks on you and how bright and bold it is, it definitely looks fantastic with that hat, the colour just seems to pop out! :) Secondly, I am also obsessed with that skirt! No, I don't own one but I keep seeing these skirts on your blog and I can't help but wishing I had one of those! I always wanted a polka dot skirt and that looks simply perfect, plus it comes in different colours, bonus!! Thirdly, I love your butterfly brooch to death! I love butterflies and anything related and watching this outfit today was really amazing as I was on the bus earlier today and a butterfly came in, it was sort of magical to see such a beautiful animal in something human-built... Oh I guess I already said too much when I just meant to say I love this outfit! You're so cute (oh I love that photo where you're hiding your face, how cute and what pretty nails you have, girl!), I can't help but loving how amazing you are! :)

  7. Tops are skirts are the easy ones for me. There are hardly ever dresses at our local thrift shops, so when I find a really nice one it's extra special. I don't even look at the shoes, people only seem to donate really old worn out shoes here.

  9. Short and Wide. I suffer that plight as well. Doesn't it make you sad to think of all the adorable vintage you've had to pass up because of that

  10. Love this outfit! I am so jealous of those skirts, I looked at them and the largest size was too small for me. I have the worst time looking for tops too, I always have dresses and skirts and now I am in serious need of tops to go with these skirts. However, you are quite the little sew queen, have you ever done a little altering to shirts that are too wide? If I grab a shirt at a thrift store and it looks too large or long or something I always check out the seams on the inside to see if it looks like something I could do some minor adjustments!

    1. True, true but they're usually too short too! I guess I totally could buy ones that are just all around too big on me.

  14. You look so good, Kaylah! I recently realized that I am TERRIBLE at buying tops. Attracted to skirts and dresses and I always easily find tons of those. No problem buying jeans. But tops... I own about a million graphic T's, but I seriously can't seem to get any nice tops (especially work appropriate ones) that I like, seem reasonably priced, and fit right. So frustrating!

    1. Oh, I stink at buying jeans too!! But since I rarely wear them it's no big deal, I am always on the look out for top though.

  15. That shirt looks like it was made for you. Seriously. Like how flat the buttons lay and how it fits your arms without snugging. Idk if you were adjusting for the pictures, but it looks amazing! Great find!

  25. I have heaps of thrifted dresses and skirts, but very few tops. I am long in the torso and most sit too short on me, love that you found one that is a great fit, something that is so hard to do.

    ps..Your brooch is gorgeous!
