Photo an hour // Camping - The Dainty Squid

Photo an hour // Camping

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Two weekends ago Kevin and I went camping with Ivan and Elycia.  We both took a photo an hour to document our little trip. Here's the day through my lens...

6 am // A quick stop for donuts, chocolate milk and ice before hitting the road.
7 am // Car ride reading material.
8 am // It was a super foggy morning. On the way there to the was spotted the most beautiful cemetery. So we stopped in and explored for a few minutes.
9 am // We arrived in Kane, PA!
10 am // Since we were nearly an hour early, Kevin and I went to grab a place to camp before Ivan and Elycia arrived. But long story short - the site we got was horrible, we got a refund and ended up arriving late to meet with them.
12 pm // Finally we got a nice little site, and got all set up!
1 pm // Out and about exploring the area.
2 pm // Still exploring! We visited an overlook with a little rock wall where we wrote our initials and hiked down the hill to find oodles and oodles of mushrooms.
3 pm // Another overlook. Pennsylvania is such a beautiful state.
4 pm // Stopped at a "visitor center" only to find it closed but Elycia did grab a sheet of facts on bears which she studied, and studied and studied some more. Elycia is now a bear expert.
5 pm // We played with our land cameras while waiting on Roma pizza to heat up over the fire.
7 pm // We went out exploring again. On the way back I got ice cream and everyone else got french fries. Despite how delicious my ice cream was, french fries really were the better choice since I just couldn't warm up afterwards.
8 pm // Back at the campsite. We sat by the fire and Ivan cooked a ton of "crab dogs" (veggie dogs cut open on the ends) before we headed off to bed.
It was an excellent trip and it went by way too fast. We really do need to camp more often! Make sure to swing by Elycia's blog to see her version of the day. Hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday!
xoxo

  6. So fun! I'm kind of crazy about the beauty of mushrooms, so I swooned over your collection on Elycia's blog. Ivan's Schrute Farms shirt is hilarious - so ideal for a camping trip. You guys do camping up right, that pizza looks scrumptious!

  9. Every time I ride through Pennsylvania, I see a little house here and there all alone on a mountain, and think "I wish I could be a hermit and just live right there!" It is so pretty out there.

  26. Oh man, you were like, 15 mins. from my hometown (Smethport, Pa.)
Did you guys stop and see the Kinzua Skywalk (what was built over the remains of the Kinzua Viaduct)? It's worth a look, especially in the fall.
History lesson: The viaduct was the largest railroad bridge in the world when it was built, 301 ft. tall and 2,052 ft. long. It collapsed in a storm in 2003. Last fall, they built a "Skywalk" that stretches about halfway across the valley, where the bridge use to stand. It has a glass floor in part of it, so you can see strait down.
