like going to the beach to watch the sunset...
 chasing the seagulls...
realizing that chasing the seagulls in front of the sunset will create a pretty picture...
and meeting new friends...
Kevin and I went to the beach to watch the sun set at the beach one night last week. We normally go to bed pretty early since we get up so early in the morning but we were feeling wild and decided to head to the beach instead of going to bed. (I swear, we're old people. Pretty sure we got to sleep before my grandpa!) It was a BLAST. It was so wonderful to go out and not have it be sickeningly hot. The temperature that night was absolutely perfect, as was the water. I'm thinking this is going to have to become a normal occurrence this summer. A late dinner on the beach sounds pretty awesome too...

The little things is a series here on The Dainty Squid featuring the little things in life that make it special. The series went under a brief (accidental) hiatus but is now coming back into rotation.

  8. You are truly lucky to have a beach that doesn't seem uber populated. The closest ones really are in Milwaukee and there's so much crap around that it's not that great looking.

But these pictures are beautiful, and now I have a hankering of trying to find some other cool beach and chase some birds (but not geese 'cause man they're vicious).

  9. I love this! One of my favorite things to do when we go to Padre Island is feed the 'gulls! It gets a little freaky, 30 or so seagulls flying around you and hovering right above your head as you throw literally any kind of food at them and they catch it, or hold your hand up holding a cheeto or something and one will swoop by and grab it. No body will do it except me and my mother in law. It's so much fun and I KNOW I have pictures of it around here somewhere, I'll have to post someday!

  22. Growing up in south-east Texas, I loved walking outside during the nights because it was the only time of day it wasn't insanely hot and humid. It does mess with your schedule, but man, I love being outside and not horribly uncomfortable.

  30. I have been seeing a few tiny frogs around lately. One occasionally pops up right outside our front door, so I always tread carefully. =)

Gorgeous images, as always. That sunset is stunning.
