My mom was gardening earlier this week when she found a tiny little baby bunny. I just about melted when she texted me a picture. I had her put him in a cage until Kevin got off work and we could go over and visit. (I'd totally be lying if I told you I didn't spend the whole day daydreaming about holding the little guy!)
I squealed with excitement when I saw him in person. He looked small in the pictures she sent me, but he was even tinier in person. I've met and snuggled a whole lot of animals in my life time that other people probably haven't but I have never seen in person a bunny this tiny.
Even the pictures in Kevin's pocket make the little guy look so much bigger than he was. He sat real cute, with his head peeking out, in Kevin's pocket at first. But then he sunk to the bottom of his pocket, curled up and tried taking a nap. So, so sweet!
Hope you're having a great Saturday!

so sweet. i remember one time during outside play w/ my preschoolers, about half a dozen came out one by one. . . i was overwhelmed by joy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutiepie! I wonder where his mama is?! We have a whole bunch of baby bunnies at work every spring and summer (I work at an Animal Rehab Shelter), and they are so crazy and cute! So glad you got to visit with him! How great is their super soft fur?!
ReplyDeleteHope he gets a great home :)

Naw, what a beautiful little guy. I miss my bunny so much- his name was Chester McFluffenstuff!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh!! This is amazing. How gorgeous.Did you let him go or are you going to take care of him?
ReplyDeleteWe let him go back where we found him. :)
DeleteGood, he deserves an opportunity in nature, is so cute!!! but
Deleteis a free animal :3 aww
Aw Im glad :)
Deleteoh my goodness - that is the cutest bunny ever! did your mom keep him?
ReplyDeleteWe let him go back where we found him. :)
DeleteOhhhh my gosh, so darn cute! I want a tiny bunny like that!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this is the cutest thing I've seen in so long! My heart has turned to complete mush :D
ReplyDeleteThat wee guy is so adorable! Too cute! I really like your new header/footer as well. That photo of your hair at the bottom right is amazing!xo
ReplyDeleteHe's absolutely adorable I've seen abandoned rabbits before, so I know what your talking about when you say he was tiny! Seeing them I really do just want to pick them up and cuddle them, but since I'm allergic to them it really wouldn't be the best idea.
ReplyDeleteCould he be any cuter! What a sweet post :)
ReplyDeleteOh !!! So small and tiny. Are you keeping him? He's really cute. I had a bunny once he was really little too so this one reminds me of him a little! :D
ReplyDeleteNope, we put him back in the garden. :)
DeleteOh my goodness! This is the cutest little guy ever!!!! You know we can't have bunnies in our state :( it sucks. I would so love to enjoy cuteness like this everyday xo
ReplyDelete:D
ReplyDeleteCan't explain.
uuuuuh cutie! :)
ReplyDeleted'awww! He is ADORABLE! Are you going to take care of him?
ReplyDeleteNope, we put him back in the garden. :)
DeleteBaby bunnies are so cute, looook at those ears!
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was younger mowing the grass and out of nowhere I see this weird looking rock.. so I stop the mower, well it was actually, like 4 baby bunnies and they all froze out of fear of the mower. I called my brother over and we started petting them, and figured they lived under our neighbours porch...then 5 minutes later our neighbours came out and yelled at us for playing with the wild bunnies. And told us that they lived under their pourch and they won't go back if we keep playing with them. So mean!
i've never seen a bunny so small, neither. he reminds me of a squirrel.
ReplyDeletewhat lovely pictures! i love this little bunny!
ReplyDeletemy heart just exploded from all the cute.
ReplyDeleteOMG! It is just melting me, soooooo cute! It looks like a baby Netherland Dwarf? Can't wait to see more photo updates of this cutie!
ReplyDeleteAsh :o)

He is gorgeous. Did you take him to a wildlife carer? If not he probably wont survive out there :( Baby bunnies that age need to be fed a special formular each day and if they don't put on weight they don't usually survive. I really hope he was taken to a carer!
ReplyDeleteNo, we put him back where we found him. I'm sure he'll be fine. :)
DeleteI hope so! I volunteer at a bunny orphanage and we hand rear them if there isn't a mummy available to give them milk. Hopefully your little bun is old enough to eat on his own. He is so sweet.
DeleteThis is nearly too much cuteness to handle! I've never found an abandoned bunny, but I have found baby raccoons, a baby skunk (which is no longer a baby anymore), and a opossum.
ReplyDeletewow. this reeks cuteness.
ReplyDeleteEep! It's a darling little fluff ball. His ears are the absolute cutest.
ReplyDeleteNew follower, and have quickly become a big fan :)
Awww. I love him!
ReplyDeleteaww! i don't think he was abandoned, i actually found a nest at my parents house gardening (i uncovered the poor little guys) and they were a bit tinier than that guy and a few days later my dad texted me saying the nest was now empty and they were running around! so i think they just grow up fast and can live on their own after their eyes open.
ReplyDeleteOh my god he's the sweetest! Are your parents taking care of him now, or are you and Kevin taking him? :)
ReplyDeleteNeither, we put him back where we found him. :)
DeleteOhhh, baby bunnies are the cutest! My sister and I had a whole shoebox full once because our kitty ate their mom. >_< So sad, but kitties just don't know any better!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, so cute. I hope your kindness to him made him less scared of the world and now he's ready to grow into a big bunny! :-)
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute! We have a bunny near our apt that we named Marco. He's tiny like that. And we have two bunnies of our own. That little guy probably isn't abandoned. Bunnies don't really stay with the mom very long after birth, just about a month or so. Then they're on their own. I'm soooo happy to hear that you put him back where he can grow. Major kuddos to you.
ReplyDeleteCutest. Pictures. Ever.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! We have a baby bunny by us that we named Marco. And we have two bunnies of our own. He's probably not abandoned. Bunnies don't stay with their mothers very long after birth, just a month or so and then they're on their own. Glad to hear you put him back in the wild. Major kuddos to you!
ReplyDeleteToo adorable!!
ReplyDeletey'all are finding such wonderful things in the garden!
ReplyDeleteToo cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!!
ReplyDeleteThat baby bunny is unbelievable cute!!
ReplyDeleteSO CUTE I COULD EXPLODE.
ReplyDeleteA couple years ago, my friend and I found a next with 6 baby bunnies of that same size in it, and no signs of the mother. we called the local animal rescue, and they said that if their eyes and ears were open, and they were alert, then they were old enough to be on their own. we weren't sure, and decided to check the nest after a couple hours. by then, all but one was gone, off on their own. the last one left a couple hours later. I'm sure this little guy will be just fine :)

ReplyDeleteThis is the cutest thing you've blogged in a long time. he is so sweet!! xx
ReplyDeleteOh my god, so cut!
ReplyDeleteADORABLE! Growing up, I was lucky and had super animal lovers for parents. One day while mowing our gigantic backyard, my dad hit a bunny's nest (nest?) and they scattered. He stopped, checked the nest, than grabbed all of them up. The mother hadn't come around, so we figured they were abandoned. My parents got them bunny cages and we nursed and loved them until they were grown, than let them out on their own!
ReplyDeleteI just saw a baby bunny like that hopping around the zoo last weekend. I swear nothing is cuter!
ReplyDeleteOmg that is the cutest thing ever! :) x
ReplyDeleteSO cute! x
ReplyDeleteso cute! i guess he must be fairly tame if he's comfortable enough to doze in someones pocket.
ReplyDeleteSo cute it hurrrtttsssss!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness. i'm in love. we found a bunny in our stairway not too long ago. we we have no idea how it got there, but we went door to door searching for it's owner. i begged my hubby to let me keep it. it didn't work out so well.
ReplyDeletebunnies are the cutest to begin with, a baby pocket sized bunny? ABSOLUTELY precious!

Such a cute bunny! If we'd found it in the wild here, I'd have to keep it or put it down, as they're pests in Australia.
ReplyDeleteI had a similar heart-warming experience with a baby rat I found recently. I so wanted to keep him and carry him around in my pocket for ever (he was so friendly), but I was eventually persuaded to let him go because he might bring disease to our other pets. I was so sad. One day I'll get myself a mouse to carry around (right now mum says no more pets!).
Aw, that is amazing! I really have to go and hold some cute animals haha, I've held so few in my life time so far!

ReplyDeleteThis is an adorable post! So smaul and tiny.
ReplyDeleteAw, look at him! Sooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteSooooo cute! I'm glad you guys let him go back where you found him! Baby bunnies need their mummy. We get all kinds of baby bunnies in our neighborhood around this time of year but we've never been bold enough to try and pick them up! (or put them in a pocket for that matter)
