Photo an hour // March 28, 2012

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

I came so close to forgetting to do March's photo an hour! What happened was in February I waited until the last minute to do it so after I finished I thought to myself "Okay, I have a month before I do this again" and proceeded to forget about it until four days before the new month. I'm reeeeally glad I remembered, even if it was later than I would have liked.

Here is what I did March 28th, broken down hour by hour...

8am // Picking out what to wear for the day! I love looking through all my pretty vintage dresses.
9am // Writing postcards.
10am // I looked out the door and saw Carl, my favorite stray, waiting for food. He doesn't seem to want pet but I'm 100% sure if I let him he'd come in the house. (That's him peeking in the door when I opened it to grab the food dish)
10am as well // Doctor Jealous ....er, I mean, Doctor Octopus tries to look super sweet in a ray of sunshine so I'll pay attention to him instead of Carl.
11am // Watering and admiring my growing window garden.
12pm // Photographing my favorite little corner in my craft room for a future blog post.
still 12pm // Multitasking -responding to emails and painting my nails.
1pm // FedEx brought me some new shoes from Blowfish!
2pm // I cleaned out a mason jar I found in the woods at a family reunion and put all the dead butterflies I found on the beach last year in it to put on my curiosity shelf. It looks so beautiful!
3pm // Making banana bread and some cookies. I love filling the house with the smell of cinnamon.
4pm // Doc always waits at the door for Kevin after he hears him pull in the driveway. I guess that smug face is "Mah daddeh lubs me, you neveh pet me, mawm."
5pm // We headed over to my parents for woodshop night (which has now turned into "family walk in the woods night" since the weather is so beautiful). As soon as we got there I took outfit pictures. I always take a few shots of Kevin first to make sure the lighting and location look nice.
6pm // Exploring the great outdoors. I am so happy to be seeing so many signs of spring!
7pm // On our way to the car, I spotted the mandible of a small critter in my mom's garden! I immediately darted for it only to discover a whole bunch more bones! After looking for about fifteen minutes I was starting to think I wouldn't find the skull. I was about to call it quits (a mandible with intact teeth is enough of an exciting find for me) when Kevin found the little tiny skull under some leaves! So exciting!

Hope you enjoyed this little peek into another normal day in my life!
xoxo

  2. The butterfly idea is great, love it. My puppy always does the same thing when my boyfriend gets home from work, acts like I paid no attention to her all day, haha!

  3. your cat is ADORABLE, your closet is an amazing array of color, i love your new shoes, and these photos are all amazingly beautiful. that butterfly idea is nice, but i would freak out about touch butterflies, which for some reason really irk me, especially if they are dead. never liked going to the zoo as a kid and seeing all the weird dead butterflies, moths, etc.

  4. My dog always waits by the window an hour before V gets home. He stares out the window, then has a barking freakout when the door opens. He usually runs and grabs his ropey immediately wanting a game of tug. But, if he can't locate his ropey, a stray sock from V's messy side of the bedroom will do. :)

  11. Oh no! Is Doctor Octopus really like that?! I hate it when kitties choose favorites. >:l

Now, I don't know if I'm going crazy, but I thought Kevin had his labret stretched?

He did, but it's been out for a few months.

  14. Do you have a problem with the kitties getting too interested in the plants you have growing? I would love to finally start growing a window garden, but I'm always worried if I try, that 1. my cat will be counterproductive by either digging or munching on the leaves, and 2. that something he munches on will make him sick!

    1. My kitties have never really bothered any of my plants but if your kitty is prone to getting into things I definitely wouldn't be growing anything inside. Especially if it's something that could make him sick. If you decide to start growing some things inside look around on the internet first and make sure it's not something deadly to kitties.

  16. Look at you, you multitasker- you! And how in the world is it that it seems all the cool dead creatures just *present themselves* to you? Like little posthumous gifts. Me? I get dead mice entrails on my porch (thank you, Angus) and that's all. =P

  32. I have a jar full of dead butterflies I've found too! I think a butterfly post is in order on both our blogs...
Do you know what animal the skeleton is from? I don't have any skulls but I do have many glass jars full of different snake skins. My favourite one is from an Eastern Brown Snake someone gave me. Second deadliest snake in the world! It has the head intact with the eyes and everything.
You need to adopt Carl. Or do you think he's a three or four dinner household cat?

    1. Oh neat! I agree! I'll be photographing mine soon!

I'm not 100% sure. He's in some peroxide getting cleaned up right now so I haven't had time to examine him thoroughly yet. I'm hoping to be able to identify him sometime this week.

I would love to! But I'm so nervous that he already only knows what it's like to live outside - and my kitties are strictly inside. Plus - oh my gosh - I really don't want five cats. I'm happy just knowing he's fed everyday. He spends a good majority of his day hanging out on my deck anyway so it's basically like he's mine anyway!

    2. I wonder what life would be like with just five cats....I have 6! lol and soon to be seven lizards. I think I'm like your Dad. I collect animals no one else wants. I would love to have an update on the bearded dragon he found, and the iguana he adopted!

That little jar of butterflies is beautiful too - I would love to see a photo of it from the side. I'm definitely going to have to try out this challenge of a photo an hour in my own blog. Hope you're having a lovely Wednesday! :)
