I think the one thing I get the most questions about (other than my hair and blogging in general) is my keyboard! I have to agree, it is pretty awesome! I bought the decals and applied them just over a year ago and thought I'd give a little review or update on how they've held up so far.
In case you're totally clueless about keyboard decals let me tell you a little bit about these ones. They come on a sheet approximately the size of your keyboard. It is not a silicone cover, they are individual pieces. The decals come cut exactly the size of your keys so you don't have to trim them but you do have to take your time and apply them one by one, carefully so they're not crooked. They're just like stickers and they claim to come off clean without any residue but I can't speak for that as I've never tried to take mine off.
All these photos were taken for this post and are recent. The decals have held up surprisingly well. The color hasn't changed at all in the year they've been on and I don't see any wear on the letters either. The only down fall seems to be they get a little static-y. Cat hair tends to stick to the top of them but it's really no big deal because it does wipe right off.
All in all you can't really go wrong for under $20! They're so pretty and they brighten my day every time I sit down at my computer.

Or on etsy - all you have to do is search with the keywords "rainbow keyboard decal" under all items or just "keyboard decal" if you'd like different colors.

ReplyDeleteI clean my keyboard far to often and mine doesn't look have as clean. Don't know why...but mine gets gross pretty fast, which I hate. Yours look totally clean girl :) don't sweat it.
I love the stickers, but my main concern is how the stickers affect the backlight. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI really don't rely on the backlights because working in the dark gives me a headache but just sitting here right now I can see the light peeking up from in front of the keys. When I look at the keys from the top I can see the light from all around the keys but not through the decals.

They're so pretty! I have to admit, I eat at my keyboard too without cleaning it out. Though sometimes I drop my laptop and then all the crumbs fall out. That counts as cleaning, right?

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! And the static issue may not necessarily be an issue with the covers themselves, since my keyboard tends to get static-y all on its own. Also, this seems to be a great option, since my keys are showing wear from my angry typing style and I'd like to protect them.

It's okay, the boy and I also eat over our computers. This morning I discovered he'd been eating some Asian tuna salad concoction when I accidentally rubbed sesame/chili oil into my eyes. It was on the keyboard! -_-'

ReplyDeleteI actually sought these out several weeks ago on Etsy. Unfortunately, I discovered that because I have a MacBook that's one model earlier than yours, the stickers won't work on my keyboard - the keys aren't flat all the way across, they're beveled on the edges. :( So, that must mean I need a new computer, right?

For some reason, it makes me feel that these colors are going to help an individual to be more eager and excited in doing their homework or tasks. It looks lively, and I believe it can affect your mood in a good way.
