A new place to hike...

Sunday, December 04, 2011

Last time I got tattooed my artist (who lives fairly close to us) told us about this great place to hike that's not far from home and where there are all these beautiful ledges and paths. We finally got around to checking it out last week, and he was not kidding. It's amazing! These pictures don't even begin to do the area justice.
The ground almost everywhere was a thick carpet of moss, it was so gorgeous! And the ledges - on a clear day you could probably see for miles and miles. We only hiked on top of the ledges, I thought it might be kind of dangerous to be climbing since it's an area we're unfamiliar with and the leaves were covering the ground. (although just walking up top proved to be dangerous seeing as I fell in a hole and hyper-extended my knee!) I'm very excited to go back and explore further. Hopefully we get a chance before the snow, if not it will have to wait until spring!

Oh yeah, and I saw this sign....?
We're trying to get outside every chance we get before all the green is gone. As much as I look forward to snow I instantly miss the greenery as soon as it's gone!  Luckily looking at pretty pictures I've taken earlier in the year makes it a little bit better and easier to bear.

  5. Kaylah!! It's been sooooooo long since I managed to have time to read your blog. Really sad considering I would read pretty much every day =( Anyway, it's probably going to sound really weird, but the other night I had a dream that you drove here (UK) in a cool car and picked me up, and we went on an epic road trip back over to America and you showed me around the area! I do recall thinking I would have to keep an eye on the time to take my tablets to stop me getting travel sick haha! My dreams are so random at times.

Anyway, hope all is good and hope you are prepared for Christmas. Eeek I can't believe how close it is already! =D

  10. This is so beautiful! I love finding places like this.

And I know what you mean about looking forward to snow then instantly missing the green. That's exactly how I feel! I guess it just makes us appreciate it all the more when we do have it.

    Love your blog :)

  24. The midwest is so beautiful, and never runs out of surprising places like this. I can't wait to go back.

I used to get mad at people who called it "flyover country," but now I just feel bad for them.
