Scenes of Christmas around the house...

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

It almost feels wrong to be decorating for Christmas already despite the fact it's rapidly sneaking up. We had an extremely mild November. It only snowed once and it didn't even accumulate. Normally by this point we've had a few big snowfalls. Without the snow it just feels like it's been a long Fall. Getting out all my Christmas decor felt weird and kind of like I was doing it in the totally wrong month but now that it's up I'm starting to get really excited. I can't wait to spend time with family, and open presents!!

Here are some peeks from around the house! It feels so cozy with all the decorations up.
Oh, and big mugs of hot chocolate are definitely making it feel a little more like winter too! ;)

Have you decorated yet?

  1. I'm really enjoying my decorations too! The problem is I'm having a hard time doing anything but curling up on the couch with my knitting and a fire watching Christmas movies!
Here are some pictures of "Kitschmas" around my place-

  4. Love your decorations! I have all of mine up already too. :)

I especially love the antlers spelling out your name! And my grandparents used to have that white ceramic tree with the lights - it was always my fave :)

  5. Oh my, those bobbles as earrings on your deer! I die! I just bought a faux deer mount a couple of weeks ago (and HAD to adorn him with a mustache haha). I've been looking for a santa beard to decorate him with for the holidays, but so far the ones I've found have been more than I'd want to pay! Ah well, maybe next year? Also, all those little santa figurines... SO SWEET!

  8. I feel the same way. The "warm fuzzy" feeling hasn't hit me full force yet this year - I think for the same reason. Today was actually our first snowfall that stuck for a minute. Although it is melting away as we "speak".

We did do some decorating though! We got the tree up. (Don't you love going through all the ornaments one by one together?!) And some of my vintage finds are sprinkled throughout the house. :) I just recently started collecting vintage Christmas...pretty much just last year.

Btw, I'm drooling over your deer lights! So stinkin cute! And! we have that same Santa in the truck (5th pic) and rolly polly Santa (9th pic) - it was my BF's grandmas. <3

  9. I love all your decorations. But I always wonder where do you keep all of this dunring the year, since you also have a lot of halloween decorations too. (I live in a tiny house so I always worry if I will have space to store things before I buy, and if the things will be used).

  10. Ronise, We keep the out of season decorations in the basement. There is this weird little storage nook down there that is perfect for storing things.

  11. My boyfriend is making me wait! I have to adjust some things because this year we have our second cat who isn't used to this kind of decorations yet. I really don't want to come home from work and find our tree demolished.

How well do your cats accept the new decorations? No total destruction around the house?

  12. Your decor looks great!
I pulled out mine about 2 weeks ago and have been waiting patiently because the fall is extending itself and it doesn't feel quite like it is time to put up the Christmas decorations yet. Probably at the end of this week I will. But you know the tree is up and lit!

  33. I had a hard time waiting, and I got the majority of my christmas decor put up the day after thanksgiving. Just last year I started doing a scandinavian theme so I'm still thrilled to be building that one with little things here and there.

I love the garland you have with your nutcrackers! Did you make that or can I buy that somewhere?

  39. Oh my god that mounted deer's head is too amazing haha I am soo jealous! I totally haven't decorated my house yet, I keep meaning to but putting up decorations means cleaning up to make room for them and I keep on feeling way too lazy to start any of it. Maybe tomorrow...

  42. (dumb question) but do you have a big christmas tree? I like seeing how others decorate theirs. Is it hard to have one (if you do) with the kitties? My little kitty baby is 3 yrs old so she doesn't really bother with the tree anymore but when she was little, the ornaments on the lower half of the tree would be on the ground!

  43. I can't wait to get all my decorations out and ready for the season:) It'll be happening this weekend for sure!

I love what you did to the deer. The ornament earrings give it such a cute christmas look!

  55. I decorated our mantle about a week ago and I really love it! I love the little miniature nutcrackers you have! My dad used to collect (as in, he has so much stuff now, there is no room to put it anywhere, so he had to stop!) East German Christmas decorations (that's where he is from!) So he has tons of nutcrackers, those little figurines that burn incense (Räuchermännchen), candle arches (Schwibbogen) and christmas Pyramids (Weihnachtspyramide). Our house used to look like a crazy Christmas museum and I loved it!
