like catching a jar full of lightning bugs!
....and finally figuring out how to make a GIF in photoshop (even if your first two attempts were backwards! :P )

I hope I never get too old to think that catching lightning bugs is one of the best things to do a warm summer night. Kevin and I had so much fun running around catching them, I can't wait to do it again.

I took a sick day today, which made me feel completely lazy but I guess it was somewhat successful because other than feeling slightly better now, I also managed to get my inbox about half way cleared out, write up a few draft posts, edit a bunch of photos and learn how to make a GIF in photoshop!

I hope you're all having a great day!!

  11. It wouldn't be summer without lightening bugs in a jar and loud bug noises in the air (especially in the south where I grew up). LOVE the gif! I've always wanted to make one.

  16. That is so pretty! I love fireflies, they're one of my favorite things about summer. They always remind me of when my sister and I were little, and we used to run around the backyard trying to catch them and giggling like crazy. :]

  18. A friend told me just the other day that she'd read an article that lightning bugs are headed for endangerment/extinction because of light pollution. Too much light prevents them from attracting each other to mate, apparently.
I hope that's not true because it woud break my heart to think of kids growing up never knowing the joy of catching lightning bugs on warm summer nights!!

  29. Wow! I don't think I've ever seen lightning bugs.. I had no idea they actually light up like that. I guess that's dense of me, but I swear I thought it was just their name, like maybe they were more shiny than other bugs! Ha! Very cool gif!
