This year I...

Inspired by Izznit's "This year I..." post I decided to make my own! This is also influenced by the fact Kevin and I are stuck at home watching movies, playing video games and eating hummus on New Years eve since I'm terrified of being on the road with the possibility of so many drunk drivers being out. (I am so my mother!)
Anywho, This year I...
...met lots of neat critters!
...ate the best sweet corn ever, straight from our own garden!
...learned how to make origami cranes! (still stoked about that!)
...was adopted by the sweetest little kitten ever.
...baked more than I've ever baked in my whole life!
...had the best craft room ever built for me by my dad... and then had to desert it due to flooding!
...dyed my hair the prettiest colors!
...thrifted, antiqued and auctioned my butt off.
...got tattooed a lot, including a piece for my kitties (just days before adopting the professor!)
...enjoyed the little things!

I think 2010 was an absolutely awesome year, and I'm looking forward to 2011! Here's to a fabulous year!

      2010 in silly photobooth pictures.

      Looking back through photobooth pictures is so much fun! I always find real gems that I've forgotten about like these;
That's seriously not even a quarter of the ridiculous pictures I have saved from photobooth. It's one of my favorite thing about my mac. I'll go through periods where I forget how fun photobooth is and then rediscover it and take a million pictures.
Do you have a secret stash of silly pictures of yourself?

      Frozen Lake Erie

The weather yesterday was beautiful. The sun was out for the first time in what seems like forever and all the snow and icicles were melting. When Kevin called on his lunch break he suggested we go on a hike, I was totally down for it (I'm always ready to get out of the house). So when he got home in the evening we headed to the beach!

Words cannot even describe how gorgeous it was. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. There were huge dunes of sand that were completely iced over. You couldn't tell where the beach ended and the water started. It looked so foreign. Seriously, it was probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
I hope we get many more opportunities to walk on the icy beach again. I want to explore!
I guess winter isn't so bad after all! ;)

      What I wore 12/28/10

The three things I saw the most on the survey - more diys, more cats and more outfit posts! Purrrfect. One of my new year's goals (I'll post a complete list soon) is to get dressed at least 6 days a week. Working from home allows me to be really lazy, I spend a lot of time in my PJs. Frankly, I'm kind of grossing my self out. I feel like a sitcom mom; hair all a mess, in her robe with a cup of coffee (hot chocolate in my case) shuffling around the house in her too big slippers. Yikes. Starting today I will get dressed every day unless I'm sick. I'm not promising to post pictures everyday but I'll try to share an outfit at least a few times a month.
So here's what I wore yesterday, on December 28, 2010.
Shirt- target Skirt- thrifted Belt- modcloth Tights- target Boots- amazon

Yep, I sucked it up and bought those boots I put on my christmas list. I was getting dressed on Sunday and was thinking "Man, the only thing that could complete this outfit are those stinken boots". So I told myself if they were still on sale I'd buy them. Sure enough they still were, plus when I put them in my cart I realized amazon took off another 25% for their end of the year sale. I'm so glad I bought them. They fit perfectly!

Also, I said "buh-bye" to red hair! It was begining to fade so I covered it in purple! It actually turned out a lot different that planned. I've done it before and last time it just looked purpley-red which was really pretty. This time it came out a really dark purple with splashes of pink. It's fun because it looks different in every light. I like it, a lot.
One last thing before I go, a picture of my baby. He's getting so big and handsome. What a difference from the little, scrawny, sick stray he used to be.
Hope you're having a lovely day!

      Back to work.

      Good Morning!
I'm sad to say goodbye to the long weekend I had! It was so much fun. We saw Little Fockers on Christmas Day (my parents and I have been going to the movies on Christmas day for years and years, probably since my big brothers moved out and got married) Despite what a lot of reviews say, It was hilarious.

Santa Claus spoiled me (thanks mom and dad!!) I knew most of my parents since my mom lets me pick them out because apparently I'm picky. But they did surprise me with a few things one of which...a SPROCKET ROCKET. I was so surprised! They also bought me a flash (seen on the camera) and some film for it. I'm dying go shoot! I'll definitely make sure to post some pictures when I get a roll developed.
A few other awesome goodies - new measuring spoons, yes, I'm stoked about those. And a tooth cookie cutter! I can't wait to make teeth cookies with cute little faces!!
New tights! Yeeees! Two of the prettiest colors we love colors offers and some snazzy floral ones!
Banana scented shampoo and conditioner. I'm already in love, it made my hair smell so yummy. (Banana is my favorite scent ever.)
And Kevin got me some woodland critter nesting dolls. Their faces crack me up.
It was an absolutely lovely Christmas!

How was yours? Did Santa bring you everything you asked for?
I'm back to work now. I have new fabrics to cut and a craft room to straighten up.

      Pretty Pretty Fabrics.

       Good Morning!
I'm still on Christmas Break over here, well today is my last day. Since Christmas was on Saturday Kevin's work observes it on the following Monday. I'm beyond enjoying my long weekend!

After posting a fabric from spoonflower in my friday favorites a few weeks ago I decided to dig further into their site looking for wonderful fabrics. I hadn't really visited the site in a really long time and holy cow I was missing out on some beautiful prints!

(ps. you can click that to make it bigger and easier to see!)
        1) by heidikenney 2) by bronhoffer 3) by bora 4) by iliketosew 5) by totallysevere 6) by papersparrow

In case you're not familiar Spoonflower is a website that allows it's users to upload their fabric designs to sell and print them.  According to their website they have around 70,000 members. There are so many wonderful designs, I could easily spend all day browsing through the fabrics there.

Dreeeeeamy stairs! This would make me smile every time I looked at it if it were in my home!
Is it too late to ask Santa for something? These tights are so wonderful, and so are those boots!

If I were rich this is the first thing I'd buy the kitties!

      Absolutely beautiful!!

Love these mushrooms! Fun Fact: The reason I signed up on etsy in the first place was to buy a scarf from the girl who made these, karissa.
I am in loooove. I'm just a little jackalope obsessed right now. My parents passed down their jackalope wall mount that my grandpa gave to them to me! I'm so excited. I've loved it since I was a little girl.
My all time favorite Christmas tree.

Loooove this wreath made from vintage sheets! There is a tutorial right here.

Eeek! I want a snazzy watch like this! I've never seen one like it.

These socks are so awesome. I wish I had the patience to knit socks.

      •  Braided headband tutorial.
      • Jodie's recipe for vegan fishsticks and tatar sauce.  Yuuum.
      • Fabric watchband tutorial.
      • Needlepoint gift box tutorial. I will gladly accept a gift in this super cute box, except I might be like a cat and like the box more than the thing inside. ;)
      • Bent Plywood bicycle. Seriously the cutest bike ever!
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas eve!
