I want you all to meet someone...
Professor Stingray.
(a.k.a. the professor, ray-ray)
He came into my life on July 6th, the night of the Smashing Pumpkins concert. My mom texted me telling me she found my dream kitty (I have always wanted a siamese!) in their driveway... all alone. So she scooped him up and brought him over to my house just so I could check him out, give him some lovin' and take some pictures. The plan was to just to keep him overnight then take him to my mom's boss who takes care of kitties until they're ready to be adopted.

It was obvious he was pretty sick. Every nap his eyes were cemented shut with goop when he woke up. After a visit to the vet we found out he had worms, ear mites and a nasty upper respiratory infection.

Now he's feeling (and looking!) much much better. He has a vet appointment on August 7th to check for any viruses (FIV and FeLV), if those come up negative then he's found his forever home...WITH US! I'm beyond nervous because I'm already head over heals in love with this little guy. The professor is currently staying in the workshop in the basement, blocked off from contact with the other kitties in case he has something.

He's growing up really fast. Can you tell? The pictures are in order of oldest to newest, (uh, minus the top two, those are from mid month) I think he looks so much bigger in the last two photos. He's a ball of energy, makes the cutest noises and just look at those eyes!!  I know that Doc, Leaf and Squid will just adore him (oh ya know, after a few tough weeks of hissing and cat fights).
Fingers crossed he's healthy!!
xoxo.

  11. so cute!! He reminds me of my siamese mix when he was a kitty! siamese are always so gorgeous... but they can be little trouble makers. they're known for their "siamese attitude". for a lot of people, their demeanor is actually a selling point - my grandma had many siamese, all named cho cho. even though my siamese has a 'tude, I still love him dearly, and think he's just as cute as day one. hope he's healthy, and looking forward to more pictures!

  12. Oh wauwie! What a sweetheart!! I'm hoping with you that everything is okay! I can understand that your heart is already with this little professor ^_^.

  13. awwww he is the sweetest little thing!! I hope he's healthy, and I'm sure your other kitties will learn to get along. It's easier when it's a kitten being introduced in, I think introducing a fully grown cat would be much more difficult, if not impossible. (A kitten isn't seen as as much of a threat)

    Soooo precious!

  31. Awww too cute! I had one come into my life like that...she just wandered onto the porch and she was about 4ish weeks or so. And she was super sick...slept for a week strait...but luckily, with a little antibiotics and lots of love, she recovered.

  32. I hope it all turns out and he gets to have a forever home with you!

  33. cute cute cute!
The FELV IS one to be worried about because that causes all sorts of problems and severely shortens kitty lives. :(

FIV I wouldn't worry about too much. Cats have really evolved to cope with the disease much better than humans have been able to cope with HIV. Cats with FIV can live normal long and healthy lives as long as you take extra precautions about it being an indoor only kitty so that it can't catch any other illnesses by being in contact with strays and other animals. Good nutrition and regular check ups are really all that is required. :)

I wouldn't be too worried about transmission either. My own kitty has FIV and I've had multiple roomies with cats. They've wrestled and played and shared litter boxes for months on end and the virus was never passed on to the other kitties.

I say talk to your vet, read some internet info and give the kitty a chance even if it does have FIV. :) It is much less serious than what first comes to mind (thanks to HIV in people).

  34. I have no words for how cute he is. What a face, what a delicious sweet face. ADORE!!!
It would be so incredibly sad if he is ill,
I am hoping along with all us guys that he will
go on to live a happy healthy life with you guys!

  35. Oh my he is SO cute!
Aww I want to hug him and squeeze him!
I sure do hope he isn't poorly.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sooo cute! My fingers are crossed that he doesn't have any more health problems! We have four little guys running around here right now (Molly, Joey, Princess, and Mama).

  37. awwww i really want a siamese! he's so cute! :) x

  38. I adore kittens! It's always so exciting to get a new one. We just adopted a darling little kitten this week and I am so in love with him as well.

Here's to hoping that the Professor is in great health!

  39. Oh my goodness, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw him on your Flickr! So cute! My mum and I have been talking to dad about getting a kitty (or maybe two) for ages already, but he really doesn't want one. I'm not sure why, I think he's allergic or he just doesn't want it to shed on the couch.
Anyway, good luck with your new kitty!

    ReplyDelete
  40. that's great! :D I love siamese cats aswell
I hope he's fine and he can stay with you

  41. He's adorable! I hope he's ok. I work at an animal shelter and know how tough FIV is on kitties. It's very contagious to other cats, so be extremely careful!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. What a beautiful kitty! I hope he is healthy and you can keep him! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. He's adorable. I'm now in the process of convincing my boyfriend that we need a third kitty! Hope he will be ok x

  44. Awwww, he is absolutely adorable! I have a Siamese too, I can't believe your Mom just found him wandering about on his own - poor little guy! He definitely looks bigger in those last photos, he he, it's funny how fuzzy he is, mine's all smooth, and I never got to see her as a little kitten so it's funny to see how fluffy yours is. So, so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  45. awwww how handsome! i hope you get to get him!

    ReplyDelete
  46. He's SO cute! He reminds me Sassy from Homeward Bound. I've always wanted a cat like that.
I'm so sorry your little baby is sick. My kitten got sick a week after I got him, and I found out from the vet, that apparently, kittens are born with worms. He's fine now, though.
Anyway, I hope he stays healthy, and you can keep him.

  47. Kudos to you for not only giving a stray a home but also keeping him separated from your cats(and might I add he's super cute). Too many diseases and illness get spread but introducing a kitten into a home without taking precautions.
I recently took on a kitten myself, I have been fostering her since she was a week old. She is special needs, shes so precious, and we recently decided to keep her.

  48. Awww he's so cute!
I hope it all works out and you can keep him!
I'm about to move in with my boyfriend and he has a cat that has FIV. It's not really a big deal just means I can't get my own kitty.
    Good luck! :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh, my! The professor just stole my heart! I think you should keep him.

I had a cat with FIV and one without and they lived very happily together for many, many years. The one without FIV never contracted it, despite their tussles and full-on wars with each other.

FIV, for me, isn't a big deal. The Professor definitely looks like he is already a part of the family. Keep him! :D

  50. I hope he comes back with a clean bill of health. I have only owned two cats in my life, but they were both Siamese. Love their personalities!
